TEATRO VISIÓN SEEKS TEACHING ARTIST
Teatro Visión is looking for a bilingual (Spanish and English) teaching artist for our two-week winter Intensive Teatro classes for youth. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for working with youth to develop their performance skills through explorations of their own experiences, perspectives, and hopes.
About the class: Our youth classes identify and train new "teatristas" — skilled artists dedicated to culture-based, bilingual theater. This innovative training program inspires students ages 10-17 to find their voice, building the self-confidence and initiative to take on leadership roles in their community. The Intensive Teatro Class prepares the students to audition and perform in the upcoming Spring Youth Production: When She Had Wings by Suzan Zeder.

Our work amplifies the voices of Latinxs, creates a dignified and empowering sense of identity, inspires action, builds respect and understanding, and explores the social and psychological experiences of Latinxs.
Teaching Schedule:
The six classes will begin Tue. Jan. 27th and ends Sat. Feb. 7th.
Tuesdays. Jan. 27 & Feb. 3
6:30-9:00 pm
Thursdays. Jan. 29 & Feb. 5
6:30-9:00 pm
Saturdays Jan. 31 & Feb. 7
11:00 am-4:00 pm
Class dates within the time frame of Jan. 27-Feb. 7, are flexible to teaching artist availability
All classes are held in-person in San Jose.
Compensation: $40.00 an hour for a total of 20 hours to include preparation and teaching time.
Qualifications:
Experience working with youth in artistic and/or educational settings.
Bilingual, English and Spanish.
Experience or interest in creating bilingual theater and theater rooted in Latinx experiences.
Knowledge of a broad range of theater styles and techniques, such as Theater of the Oppressed, Chicano Theater, improvisation, and physical theater.
Passion for theater as a tool to advance social justice.
Must be able to pass a background check, including fingerprint check.
