San Leandro Players is excited to announce auditions for our Spring 2026 production of "The Odd Couple (Female Version)" by Neil Simon; directed by Dana Fry.
The Odd Couple (Female Version) centers around Olive Madison and Florence Unger, divorced women who become roommates. The play opens with Olive Hosting a game night for friends in Olive's messy apartment when Florence arrives, freshly separated from her husband. The comedic tension arises from their contrasting personalities: Olive is laid-back and disorganized, while Florence is uptight and meticulous. As they navigate their differences, the play explores the themes of friendship, compatibility and the challenges of cohabitation.

Where:At the San Leandro Museum/Auditorium 320 West Estudillo Ave, San Leandro (next to the historic Casa Peralta and 2 blocks east of the San Leandro BART Station).
Rehearsals:From January 12 thru February 26 (Monday thru Thursday 7-9 pm), plus February 28 (dress rehearsal).
Performances:February 28 thru March 29; Saturdays at 8pm; Sundays at 2pm PLUS Fridays at 8pm March 20 and March 27.

Characters (ages 30+):
Olive Madison: An easy going, messy and carefree woman who is unconcerned about her untidy apartment. Her laid-back attitude often clashes with her roommate's excessive cleanliness.
Florence Unger: PRECAST Complete opposite of Olive. Fastidious, highly organized and obsessed with cleanliness and hygiene. Olive's sudden roommate after separation from her husband.
Mickey: Olive's friend who participates in game nights.
Sylvie: Olive's straightforward friend who often points out Olive's shortcomings as a hostess.
Renee: Olive's friend who adds to the dynamics of the friendship.
Vera: Olive's friend who is sweet and spacey, often lagging in conversations.
Manolo Constanze: Jesus' brother involved in a double-date with Olive and Florence, adding to the comic tension.
