It takes us to a solitary cottage in the village of Leenane, Western Ireland, where Maureen, a rather plain woman of about forty, and her seemingly senile mother, Mag, live their days in a never ending battle with one another. Maureen’s yearning to marry and be rid of her wretched lifestyle provokes the worst of her mother’s egotistical and childish behavior.
