On Aug 6, 1945 the U.S. dropped an
atomic bomb on Hiroshima, and
three days later, another on Nagasaki.

Mark this coming weekend
with prayers and action for

You are invited to bring paper origami cranes to hand out to those passing by. This #Cranes for Our Future website will show you how to make them. (Please come even if you don't make any cranes, however!) Join our local community to stand for peace!

Global NUCLEAR PRAYER DAY

Sunday, August 6

United Religions Initiative, the Parliament of the World's Religions and other organizations are hosting a world-wide NUCLEAR PRAYER DAY, inviting you, your congregation, and all religions and walks of life to pray on this day.

This multifaith prayer is available, or create your own!

There is a live-stream event featuring Bishop William E. Swing and others with prayers, reflections and actions steps for a world free of nuclear weapons. Two Zoom events are planned with space for discussion, reflection and community. Local gatherings are being hosted around the globe.

During World War II, J. Robert Oppenheimer directed the super-secret Manhattan Project that created the three atomic bombs that ushered in the Nuclear Era. 
MVPJ joins Physicians for Social Responsibility, Ploughshares Fund, Back from the Brink and others in encouraging this "teachable moment" for us all to grapple with the reality of nuclear weapons.
