Sagar,

These boards are recreational boards. They are good for playing at home but they are not really tournament quality boards. You will get this boards anywhere between $60-$90 in Indian stores. The tournament quality boards will cost you minimum $250, however if someone is planning to go to LA then he/she can pickup these boards for $150 including a stand (Bala, hope that offer is still valid :) )

Bala, could you share the places to get the better boards once again for the benefit of the new members?

Regards,
Pravin

hey guys,

here's the info i had posted on this subject after the previous tourney -
http://groups.google.com/group/bayareacarrom/web/where-to-buy-tournament-quality-carrom-equipment

apart from the stores mentioned above, there is another attractive option -
the exact same boards we used at the tournament (synco bulldog) are available (brand new) in LA with "sunil narkar". these boards were specifically made for the 2006 world cup held in new delhi, and sunil bought a lot of the unused ones. he has already sold most of them, but he still has a few remaining that he is willing to sell for $150 for a board + coins. he doesnt have the stand for them, you can buy one separately from the stores mentioned above. these boards normally cost around $400 so this is a great deal at $150. all these boards are in his warehouse in LA.

you can save money on shipping if we can consolidate the purchases. i can volunteer to coordinate it, please let me know if you are interested in buying one from sunil.

thanks,
bala

hi anil,

this is good info. looks like they have reduced the prices. the top 3 in the list below (all "bulldog" models) are pretty good boards. USCA uses "precise elegant bulldog" for its tournaments, and it used to be a lot more expensive a few years back.

i am not sure how much it would cost for shipping, lets see how many others are interested in buying one and then i can check with sunil.

Hi,

Yesterday I checked in their stores and looks like the quality of the board is good.
Its same as 20mm/16 mm plywood quality. Price is 167$ approximately including tax.

Any idea which brand/model it is?

btw, I saw/used a Precise Amateur model with 9mm ply for $55 in Sacramento and it was very good for regular home use :)

Anil

Warning: Do not buy "Precise Chroma" unless you want nicely painted firewood! This is a common model I have seen in Indian grocery stores around here, retails for about $50.
