"PRAY AND ACT FOR TRUTH, JUSTICE AND GENUINE CHANGE...

ENOUGH OF CORRUPTION, DECEIT AND VIOLENCE!"

"For your hands are stained with blood, your fingers with guilt.

Your lips have spoken lies, and your tongue mutters wicked things."

(Isaiah 59:3-4)

Move on. Such wonderful words. It means being active and dynamic. Move
on,

the favorite phrase of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo ever since the
Gloriagate

scandal broke out.

However, in her skewed sense of reasoning, Mrs Arroyo is compelling the

people to turn a blind eye to serious charges of cheating and
corruption

against her. In the nation's quest for truth and justice, the
president is

telling us to stop our search and to move on.

But where in God's name shall we go to? To her side? What has she
given us

lately? Let us have a look:

· The ever increasing prices of basic goods and services which
will

double significantly with the implementation of the Expanded Value
Added Tax

(EVAT);

· The fiscal crisis which is definitely far from over amidst
massive

plunder of the national treasury and further indebtedness brought by
GMA's

corruption before, during and after the 2004 elections;

· The massive and successive demolition of urban poor communities

through the anomalous Northrail contract and other anti-poor
development

projects;

· The continuing failure to guarantee genuine land reform, just
wages,

job security and social services for the poor;

· The reign of state-sponsored terror and repression through the

Calibrated Preemptive Response (CPR) policy which brutally suppresses
the

people's right to rally;

· The superfluous anti-terror bill which considers legitimate

political dissent as an act of terrorism;

· The wave of ruthless killings, enforced disappearances and
massive

displacement of communities resulting into a clear pattern of
repression and

destroying the people's efforts to have a life of abundance and
dignity;

· The grossly expensive and treasonous Venable LLP deal which
employed

direct lobbying of US agents to effectively impose the Charter Change
agenda

at the expense of our national sovereignty;

· The wanton destruction of people's lives, livelihood and
environment

through continuing promotion of large scale mining and logging;

· The perpetual subservience to US-led globalization policies and

unwavering support to the immoral and unjust US wars of aggression and

intervention;

· The all-out war, militarism and constant betrayal of
substantive

agreements forged in the GRP-MILF and GRP-NDFP peace negotiations...

When a country is in a state like this and our so-called leader, who
has

lost the moral ascendancy to govern, is steering our course, how indeed
can

the nation move on? Up to now, the inquiries about the 'Hello
Garci' tape

containing evidence of massive fraud and manipulation to ensure the
outcome

of the 2004 elections in favor of Arroyo and de Castro are dismissed.
We

only got a televised apology telling us that it was a "lapse of
judgment".

In GMA's world, it is perfectly alright... to cheat, lie and steal,
as

congress has junked an impeachment complaint on these bases...to sell
the

country's patrimony...to use force to silence critics.

No. This is not alright. What is perfectly alright is to be filled with

righteous indignation at what Mrs. Arroyo is doing to our country. The

people's quest for truth and justice will surely move forward despite
the

government's manipulations, including de facto Martial Law to
suppress the

people's rallies.

Let us move on. Let us move on to work for truth and justice. Let us

continue to pray and act for what is true, just and liberating for the
poor

and oppressed, keeping in mind that a ruler who constantly betrays the

people is morally unfit to govern.
