The IEP Data Utilization Work Group is proud to present a mini-training on integrated dataset maintenance! We will cover the basics of package development and maintenance, collaborating with GitHub, and contributing to IEP’s integrated datasets.

The training is targeted to people interested in helping maintain IEP’s integrated datasets but is appropriate for anyone interested in developing R packages. A basic knowledge of R and Git is recommended.

The training will be 100% remote, conducted via Teams.

Instructors:

  • David Bosworth, DWR, DUWG co-chair, will be covering working collaboratively in GitHub, creating branches, pull requests, and best practices.
  • Rosemary Hartman, DWR, will be covering the basics of R package structure, IEP’s integrated dataset packages, and their relationship to EDI publications
  • Trinh Nguyen, CDFW, DUWG data publication subteam co-chair, will be covering package development, testing, and checking packages after updates.
  • Sam Bashevkin, State Water Board, DUWG co-chair and primary developer of zooper, discretewq, deltafish, and many other packages will be on hand for questions and helpful hints.
