I don't currently own a UAV, but I plan to purchase one sometime in the next few months. Anyhow, where is a good spot to fly?

Thanks,
John

I was thinking Rancho San Antonio, near Highway 280. It's a large open area, but there may be hikers around.

Apparently, there are a bunch of other people who fly at Rancho:  https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/RSAelectricflyers/info

In the South Bay, Baylands Park in Sunnyvale is another good place.  Best time there is early in the morning, gets busy after that, especially on weekends.

I believe that Rancho San Antonio is restricted to fixed-wing aircraft only.  Baylands Park is the standard flying spot down here.
