Ladies and gentlemen,My name is Chilly Chen,The chairman of Taiwan Republic,which is a non-governmental organization that dedicated on Tawan Independence and nation building.
Today, we stand here with heavy hearts. We’re here to mourn a fighter, a man who dared to speak out — Charlie Kirk.
Charlie wasn’t a perfect man. Some people loved what he said, others hated it. But one thing no one can deny: he spoke his mind.
He wasn’t afraid of confrontation. He believed in free speech. To him, free speech wasn’t some decoration, wasn’t just a slogan — it was something to use, to test, to challenge the truth of our society.
And because of that, he was taken by a bullet. This wasn’t just a crime. This was a message to all freemen ,violence wants us silent, fear wants us to censor ourselves.
My friends, we in Taiwan know this feeling too well. We lived through White Terror. We lived under oppression from China .,And we know this truth: the moment you stay silent, the moment you compromise — you lose your future.
In Charlie’s final moment, what was he doing? He was still speaking! He was still facing his critics! He was still using his voice to defend what he believed in. That is courage. That is responsibility.
So today, We are not just here to grieve. We are here to shout loud and clear: Charlie’s spirit will live on through us!
For more than seventy years, the people on Taiwan have been ignored by the world, bullied by China, and yet we never gave up. We never waited for charity. We relied on our own courage. And Charlie’s death reminds us again: freedom is not given. Freedom must be fought for, must be defended by ourselves.
So yes, today we mourn . But we will not back down. The sound of that gunshot must turn into the roar of our voices. From Taipei to Washington, from Kaohsiung to Chicago, let the world know: violence cannot kill an idea, and fear cannot destroy our faith!
Charlie is gone. But he leaves us with one question: Do you dare to carry the torch? Do you dare to keep speaking? Do you dare to stand tall in the face of threats and pressure?
And here, on behalf of Taiwan Republic, let me answer: Yes, we dare! Because only then can we honor Charlie, honor ourselves, and honor all those still searching for light in the darkness.
Charlie, may you rest in peace. We will continue the road of freedom you walked, and we will finish the fight you began.
