Let me echo Allen’s comments.
台灣內部不同族裔相互通婚緊密，何謂「赤藍人」？何謂「台灣民族」？要怎麼「鬥爭」？劉重義教授的想法會不會與台灣社會結構顯得格格不入？
個人的想法：
1. 尊重台灣每一個住民的主體認同［台灣人（當然含台灣原住民與非原住民）、中國人、越南人、…..］。
2. 尊重台灣人民對台灣未來前途享有自由表達的人權。
3. 台灣島上全體住民可經自決公投決定台灣前途的去向（台灣獨立建國，台灣併入中國，台灣併入日本，台灣併入美國，…）。
4. 不管主體認同為何，台灣島上每一個住民都應共同保衛台灣的安全，抵抗任何外來的武力入侵，以改變台灣現狀。
簡單説，台灣人民的共同守護的價值是：自由、民主、人權、公義。
台灣人再自我裂解鬥爭，一定走向自我滅亡。

Allen's partisanship really clouds his thinking. For the record I am a registered Independent. I was a Republican candidate for Congress in 1992. Jimmy Carter was the last Democrat I voted for. I generally vote Green or Libertarian. In 2004 & 2008 I was Ralph Nader's ballot access manager and handled all the paper work to place his name on the ballot around the country. I consider myself non-partisan and feel that "middle of the road" best defines my political views. I consider Trump a threat to democracy. His encouraging the capitol riot will forever scar his name in history.

Are you sure that you expect Trump to appoint me as the U.S. Ambassador to Taiwan? If that's the case, moving forward, life will be even more difficult for folks such as you, the Left-wing American westerns (i.e. the American white etc.) who have been "stranded" in Taiwan for a long time! LOL.
Except you Jerome Ketting, America born westerns who are long-staying in Taiwan at this moment, there are also Linda Arrigo, retired staffs of FAPR, retired staffs of AIT, etc, etc. Most of you guys are leftists**1. I will therefore change The ultra-left trend in Taiwan's political arena. I suspect that the reason why Taiwan's political arena is biased towards liberal and left, is because for a long time, you left-wing foreigners have been hanging out with Tsai Ing-wen, who is also an extreme left-winger to start with. You have fed her bad ideas, ruined her. For example, you guys must have urged her to accelerate some bad laws in Taiwan, including the same-sex marriage law, and encouraged her to develop the habit of cheating. Of course, Tsai Ing-wen will also give you, the western foreigners some small favors from time to time, so that you can often compliment her, and also help her to boost her own international image.
Now, in addition to Tsai Ing-wen having been deprived of power, Trump has also driven away the demonic spirited Biden leftist regime in the US. Therefore, it will not be easy for you, the leftists to slack off around in the future! Hartzell. In addition to being not a leftist, Richard has been dedicated in defending for foreign sons-in-law and foreign wives in Taiwan’s legal right. He incubated the daughter-in-law’s permanent residence law, and made a great contribution to you guys. You (Jerome Ketting etc.) should appreciate him!
