A three year legal battle ended with a TaIwanese scholar defeating the University of London claim he was vexatious for asking about TIW's PhD thesis.

Former Major General Yang Cheng-liang (楊承亮), who once served as the Deputy Dean of the National Defense Management College at the National Defense University and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh, organized a public hearing back in 2021, during which he criticized Tsai Ing-wen’s doctoral dissertation as “complete garbage.”

 

Of course, given Yang’s background as a Major General, many pro-Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) figures immediately dismissed the hearing, saying, “That’s just the Kuomintang attacking our President Tsai. Don’t believe Yang Cheng-liang; we must protect our President Tsai.”

 

Now, after three years of legal proceedings, Yang Cheng-liang has prevailed over the University of London. The UK court ruled that his request to examine Tsai Ing-wen’s doctoral dissertation was not frivolous or unreasonable. Nevertheless, even so, most DPP supporters still insist, “We must protect our President Tsai and not believe the British court.”

 

These die-hard Tsai supporters within the DPP become irrational beyond remedy. They ignore the fact that some pro-Taiwan independence scholars are also investigating the authenticity of Tsai Ing-wen’s dissertation — for instance, Dr. Dennis Peng (彭文正), Dr. Lin Huan-chiang (林環牆), and Dr. Ted Liu (劉重義), all members of the BATA forum.

 

這位曾任職於國防大學國防管理學院少將副院長, 獲有愛丁堡大學博士學位的楊承亮在2021年就曾舉辨過公聽會, 抨擊蔡英文的博士論文 “根本是垃圾”.  當然, 以楊承亮的少將背景, 當時有不少綠營人士立刻就將這場公聽會歸類為 “他們國民黨在攻擊我們民進黨的蔡總統. 大家不要相信楊承亮, 要保護好我們的蔡總統”.

 

如今經過三年的法律訴訟，楊承亮最終戰勝了倫敦大學. 英國法院判定他詢問TIW的博士論文並非無理取鬧. 而當然, 即便如此, 大多數綠營人士仍會誓言 “保護好我們的蔡總統, 不要去相信英國的法庭”.

 

台灣這些綠營人士中死忠的蔡粉絲已腦殘到無可救藥的地步. 他們無視於同時在調查蔡英文博士論文真偽的, 也有台獨派人士. 例如 BATA 的壇友彭文正博士, 林環牆博士, 及劉重義博士.
