Progress on the Campaign to Save the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge Path |
Last week's action in support of keeping the Richmond-San Rafael path open was STRONG, thanks to all of your support! The work continues, but we want to take a moment to acknowledge the collaboration that made this possible.
With short notice, together we: ⭐ Collected 1,325 (and growing) petition signatures
⭐ Turned out in-person and virtually for the May 2 Bay Conservation and Development Commission meeting ⭐ Submitted 267 written comments IN FAVOR of keeping the path (60% of the total comments made) ⭐ Gave 15 in-person public comments (100% of these in-person comments were IN FAVOR of the path) and several dozen Zoom comments
⭐ Surpassed 2,100 subscribers to our campaign email list ⭐ Organized with 70 orgs who signed onto our coalition letter, showing the variety of groups that support the RSR path ⭐ Received formal resolutions in support of keeping the bridge path open 24/7 from the SF Bay Trail Board and Richmond City Council
Things have continued to move— further updates and decision points are yet to come later this summer. So sign and share the petition at BikeEastBay.org/RSRpetition to show your support and receive updates on when and how to get involved. |
Berkeley's Gilman Street Bike/Walk Bridge Over 580 is Finally Open! |
Many decades in the making, Berkeley’s bike/walk bridge at Gilman St over 580 opened to the public on May 11, 2024, connecting between a 2-way cycletrack on the east side (shown below) and the beautiful Bay Trail to the west.
Huge thanks to our partners with the Albany Strollers & Rollers, and Walk Bike Berkeley for advocating with us over the years to make this bridge a reality! |
More work on the larger project to add a double roundabout and surface-level bike/walk path through the interchange will continue this year. An official grand opening ceremony and bike ride will be planned once this construction gets closer to completion.
But in the meantime click the button below to take a test ride via a video preview on our website, then go try it out yourself and let us know what you think! |
Thank you again for your support, and as always... Ride On, Robert Prinz Advocacy Director Bike East Bay |
