Hi -
A few people from Counter Culture Labs have asked me to lead a mushroom walk, and I finally have a free weekend day to make this happen! It will be Sunday, January 24 at 12:00pm.
The location will be the "Chabot Parking Lot" in Oakland, California, USA.
This is NOT the Chabot Space and Science Center Parking lot, but it is super close. The Chabot Space & Science center parking lot has two entrances, and this parking lot is 100 feet south of the more southern entrance to the Chabot Space & Science center. It's a long narrow parking lot on Skyline Blvd that is used by hikers accessing Redwood Regional Park. It's technically in Roberts Regional Recreation Area, but we'll be hiking in Redwood Park.
We will meet at 12pm, and actually leave at 12:10 sharp! If you are a couple minutes late you can run down the trail that starts at the far end of the parking lot and find us.
We'll hike and look for mushrooms until around 4pm - and if anyone is interested we'll then bring some of the more interesting and possibly new species mushrooms to CCL where I'll teach a DNA extraction & PCR workshop. There may even be gel electrophoresis!
