O25 Season update - July 2025 🌁🏝️

Olson 25ers, back with your regularly scheduled season update for July 2025.

7/26 Encinal Regatta (O25 Race Day #7) Five boats braved Bonita on a bright beautiful day. OK well it wasn't that bright it was overcast and surprising moderate in terms of wind. Synchronicity lead the entire fleet through the central bay, and we had good close competition between the boats especially in Richardson bay heading around the Marin headlands. Tiburon-based Sketch grabbed the lead there and held on all the way to Alameda, neatly clocking the fastest corrected time in the entire regatta despite the last monohull start with a 20 minute line-anchor delay. Congrats again Sketch, it was a pleasure to watch you guys Dave and John!

7/27 Estuary Extravaganza (O25 Race Day #8) -  A light, gusty, and shifty, set of races made for a particularly enjoyable day of racing One Design in the Estuary Extravaganza. We all had to adapt to new strategies and tactics as the conditions kept changing and had a good time doing it. The outcome for the day is below since the races were scored separately in the regatta:

Up to date season standings are attached, including the throw-away point shows the season standings are not yet decided. Synchronicity leads Sketch by a point in the battle for first, and O'mar has a 4-point lead over Falkor for third, who leads Shadowfax by two for fourth. 

Next up: 9/6 BYC Big Windward Leeward Regatta & 9/26-28 Nationals - As should be the case the season standings will be decided on 9/6 the season's final race which happens to also be another trip out to Point Bonita. I am told registration will go live within a week. After that we'll quickly shift gears to focus on this year's Nationals to also be held at Berkeley YC. Stay tuned for details and registration links soon. 

Midwinters 2025-26: I am going to send out a google poll shortly to this mailinglist to try to get a quick consensus on Midwinter series selection for 2025-26 winter season. I'll ask each boat to rank vote each series ONLY if you intend to register for it. Assuming nothing crazy hopefully the choice can be a done deal by Nationals.
