We finally made it out to Lopez Island, WA to put a deposit our new-to-us O25 Kamikaze!
The seller Richard had a folder full of all kinds of documents including copy of the Builders Certification signed by none other than George E. Olson himself.
From what I can piece together, the boat was built in 1985 then maybe spent 10 years as dealer boat (?) then being sold to an owner in Kalispell, MT. After years in MT the boat then moved out to the PNW and went through a couple of owners before us acquiring her.
I do have names of the previous owners, but figure I should keep those private.
We have big plans of doing the Washington 360 Race in the summer of 2025 then maybe the R2AK in the summer of 2026. Local beer can racing and family cruising is also on the list.
As for now we are looking to redo the electrical system including adding some electronics, replacing and upgrading the rigging, purchasing some sails and spiffing her up after living on the hard for a bit of time.
I'm sure I will have bunch of questions and already found the thread on lowering the mast very helpful.
Looking forward to connecting with other O25 owners on here!
