Greetings-

I am redoing the entire 12v system on our O25 and feel like adding a 12v bilge pump might be a good idea. Yes, primary bilge pumping will be done with a sponge and bucket, but this is for emergencies.

The Whale Supersub Smart Pump looks like it might do well in a shallow bilge like the Olson has.

Video here:

Anyone have any experience with this pump or another one?

Thx, Craig

Hello,
I have an electric bilge pump on Shark. Whale ( which is similar) non-automatic. The Olson 25 bilge is very flat. The problem with these electric pumps is they need to be submerged to prime, i.e. you need to have 2" of water in the bilge before they start working. 2" is a lot and you might have other issues if you get that much water.

As a primary pump i have a separate manual one that can be operated from the cockpit. They will start sucking water much earlier and are useful even at just 1/2" of water. So i"d recommend to go with that as primary.
