This year Outsound is presenting an 80 member orchestra directed by Vinny Golia (Octacontagon) in honor of his eighty years on this planet and you are invited to be part of this epic adventure!
We have 50 confirmed and need 30 more!
If you would like to participate* in this fun communal directed large ensemble event at this year's 23rd Annual Outsound New Music Summit at the Berkeley Finnish Hall, 1970 Chestnut Street on August 2nd please reply to this email and let me know by sending an email to me Rent Romus to outso...@yahoo.com :*
(1) Your name as you would like it to be listed in the program, (2) instrument of choice.
*Vinny will be providing notation charts for all instruments so reading music is needed.
For percussion reading is not required but a plus.
For instruments that require amplification you must bring your own amp. (extension coords and power strips recommended)
Piano players should bring a keyboard/amp
(there are two pianos but there not be any sound reinforcement)
The other prerequisite is to be available for a rehearsal in the afternoon of August 2nd at 4pm with the performance to be held that evening starting at 8pm at the Berkeley Finnish Hall 1970 Chestnut St (near North Berkeley BART).
Since this is such a large ensemble and funding is limited, half the profit, if any from the event is planned to be donated to Outsound's running SIMM series so we can once again offer actual pay throughout the year with the other half donated to ‘Punks with Lunch West Oakland’ who engage the unhoused community with direct real time life support.
