On Friday February 13 at 8:00pm, Tom's Place presents

                        New Olduvai Music

                 (Elliott Levin -- reeds, words

                     Tom Rollison -- guitar

                   Fred Lonberg-Holm -- cello

                     Jordan Glenn -- drums)

                               and

Tim Duff -- solo string bass

New Olduvai Music is a long-running project (originating in the 1970s) of Philadelphia reedman and Cecil Taylor collaborator Elliott Levin and an evolving list of of partners, promising spontaneous compositions merging extended techniques, electronics, and poetry.

Tim Duff is a songwriter, bass player and pianist whose interests run from energy music to Tin Pan Alley. He is particularly known (by me at least) for his solo bass+narration performances of avant-standards like Joelle Leandre's "Taxi" and Tom Johnson's "Failing, a Very Difficult Piece for Solo String Bass". I think he's working on something new for this evening's performance.
