The Community Spirit Awards, a national fellowship award of $5,000
from First Peoples Fund for American Indian artists to "practice their
art." Nominees must be: Practicing artists (min 10 years) of
demonstrated maturity in their field of visual, performing or literary
arts and a documented affiliate of a US tribe. Artists must
demonstrate: An artistic practice that passes on the traditions and
the life ways of the people; a commitment to building the strength of
native communities by sharing their skills and talents with others in
their respective communities; and deeply rooted and maintained direct
ties to their tribal community. Nominate at First Peoples Fund or send
a postcard with complete names and addresses of nominee and nominator
