Hello Bay Area Maker Educators,
Sharing out this news about a truly worthwhile just-added summer course at Jacobs Institute/UCBerkeley:
One of Jacobs’s most popular Design Innovation courses just got added to Summer Session C! DES INV 22: Prototyping & Fabrication T TH 1-4pm Jacobs Hall 10 (3 units) is an 8 week course that introduces the fundamental design and fabrication process through a series of creative and fun design projects.
Learn and apply best practices in laser cutting, 3D printing and rapid prototyping to design and build machines and mechanisms that draw, paint, and make music. Unleash your creative spirit and design portfolio-worthy projects with the guidance of experienced mentor, Chris Myers. The course culminates in a final challenge to design and fabricate a Bluetooth controlled vehicle that has to navigate a giant obstacle course.
No prerequisites or experience required! AND BECAUSE IT’S SUMMER SESSION, NON-BERKELEY STUDENTS ARE WELCOME!
*Eligibility for non-UC Berkeley students:
Must be 18 years or older by the start of your courses
Must have graduated high school
Non U.S. citizens must meet the minimum English Language Proficiency Requirement
Must complete the Summer Sessions application for access to enroll in summer courses (see below)
Pre-College Scholars Program: High school students and those 16 and 17 years old are eligible to apply via our Pre-College Scholars Program. Please do not complete the general Summer Sessions application.
