Something is afoot in the California Legislature that may affect our makerspaces. Please read about it here:

Here are some action plans if you're interested and concerned:

• Use the California Resident’s Guide to find your specific Assembly Member. Contact them and mention how the ban on "transferring" hardware prevents schools and makerspaces from receiving donated equipment.
• Follow Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) updates and use their Action Center to send automated messages to lawmakers.
• Share this issue with your networks. Many are unaware that this bill targets firmware and second-hand transfers.
• Submit a formal letter of "Opposition" via the California Legislature Position Letter Portal.
