Critical exploration and Education working for democracy

Join Eleanor Duckworth and local educators in a first-hand participatory exploration of mirrors and reflections in different subject matters, to spark collaboration and generate deeper engagement with the democratization of ideas (and participation) in teaching and learning.

Hosted at the Exploratorium, Friday February 21 and Saturday February 22
We will meet 10-4 each day, participation on both days is required.

We call it a democracy of ideas, when all ideas in a classroom are given serious consideration - not just those of the textbook or the teacher or the ‘smart learners.’ This is in the interest, among other things, of hearing multiple voices.
-Eleanor Duckworth

We work to keep learners directly in contact with primary sources (poems, historical texts, science phenomena, etc.), The subject matter is/becomes the main source of authority. The shared learning and discussion of ideas from phenomena or the materials themselves sustains an active involvement with each other, and with the world.
-Gopal Krishnamurthy

The workshop is free and open to all.

Admission to the Exploratorium and lunch each day will be provided.
Spaces are limited, register HERE.

Hosted by the Transformative Education program at Antioch University and the Tinkering Studio at the Exploratorium.
