Interesting proposal!  Why is this needed?  Anybody who has tried to find a parking place in Tahoe for cross country skiing and been turned back by the no parking during snow removal signs immediately gets the need for some sensible coordination between recreational users and public safety folks.  This. might be one way to get it.  Paul

Friends -

We're wrapping up a beautiful Easter Weekend here in Mammoth Lakes, and in keeping with the spirit of renewal - it only really snowed during the day on Saturday, Sunday was as good as it gets - we've got a couple of items for your consideration.

CA Office of Outdoor Recreation: Part Deux

Following up on February's "Mountain Ventures Summit", a group of participants put together an on-line petition in support of California's current attempt to establish an "Office of Outdoor Recreation" for this great state. Quoting from the petition:

  • "California is blessed with outstanding natural recreation resources - from the snowy peaks of the Sierra Nevada, to the towering redwoods of the North Coast, from the vast deserts of the southern interior, to our signature coastline. As Californians, we benefit from the vast and impressive public lands, natural resources, and outdoor spaces that define our state. Yet despite the importance of outdoor recreation to California’s economy and quality of life, there is no statewide office charged with coordinating and developing California’s outdoor recreation economy. Legislation has recently been introduced in the state legislature – AB 1111 – that seeks to address this deficit."
How can you help?
