Many of you may have mourned the closure some years ago of
Wilderness Exchange in Berkeley. Well, an outdoor gear consignment shop
opened last year in downtown San Rafael, and I dropped in today. Marin
Outdoor Trading Co. is a small shop owned by Derek Mitchell, who grew up
in Berkeley and has been in the outdoor retail business most of his
working life. Most of his merchandise looks to be in near-new condition
and consists of a mix of clothing, packs, tents, shoes/boots and smaller
gear. He doesn't have any climbing equipment but would be open to
considering hardware offerings. If you're interested, drop in at 1407
