Hi friends!
I've been so happy to hear updates about the noon sit, and how many of you continue to hold presence at the Occupy Oakland site.
I'm excited that this Saturday we'll hopefully have a bigger crowd of folks as there is a call out for folks to sit across the country again. I hope it's helpful in rejuvenating the group! It was great to have participation in the planning meeting last night from Tim & Ann who have been sitting regularly at noon. We tried to find a good way to incorporate the 9 minutes into the noon sit, but also have a diversity of practices available from 12-1pm to include folks who aren't up for sitting for a full hour. We think we found a good balance for folks to choose to sit for the whole hour as usual, or to participate in other transformative practices like walking meditation & empathic listening dyads.
I'm especially excited that at 1pm, we'll be installing the 1,000 Paper Cranes project! Many thanks to Funie for all your work on this, and it will be beautiful to see it come to fruition! I hope many folks will be able to stay to help us string the cranes and hang them in one of the trees.
Please spread the word among your networks!
Also, it would be great to have the Buddhist Peace Fellowship banner there - could someone bring it, or let me know when/where I could pick it up on Friday?
With much metta -
Dawn

As a part of a national call to Nine Minutes of Silence on Sat. Dec. 3rd
(http://on.fb.me/tntrzX), we invite you to join together and offer Nine Minutes of Silence with Occupy Oakland.
The goal for Nine Minutes of Silence is to offer a
period of time for both Occupiers and folks from transformative practice
communities alike to share a moment of contemplation and group
intention setting together. It will take place in three parts:
In Oakland we will be sitting with the noon sitting group that
will be practicing at Occupy Oakland for its 49th consecutive day. We
also will be installing a 1,000 Paper Cranes project (http://www.bpf.org/senbazuru) in the
trees at Frank Ogawa / Oscar Grant Plaza, and will be participating in
Empathic Listening with each other. See full schedule below & check
for updates online at http://www.facebook.com/events/182625948497698/.
If you can't join us, you can participate by practicing in
silence wherever you are, reading the dedication (http://bit.ly/uSg6SS)
and/or participating in nine minutes of silence at 3pmEST/12pmPST.
More info on those options on the national call to action event page:
(http://on.fb.me/tntrzX). There's also a flyer for the national call to action for you to circulate.

| Hi Dawn, here's a nice shot of you. I went into the planning dept. today after the sit to inquire about tree decorations, and met a couple of nice but not too well informed people to discuss who can permit/object to tree decorations in the plaza. Mike and Jillian(?) on the 2nd floor did their best to find me various phone numbers. Nancy Marcus 510 238 3292 Arturo Sanchez 510 238 7542 Gay Luster 510 615 5934 none of which answered, I did leave 2 messages. I even made a crane for mike and Jillian, they seemed sympathetic but no answers beyond a comment that the Plaza is kind of touchy. I explained the Senbazuru legend of 1000 cranes to grant a wish, that we were a group of meditators and would put them up and take them down after the holidays. I mentioned that SF City Hall has installed 1000 cranes on their indoor
tree for Aids awareness today. So I'll try to call again tomorrow. I mentioned to Funie that the many handrails around the plaza might be a default installation if necessary. Police and security are unpredictable. peace tim |
