Hi friends,

Since you've been at a Buddhist Peace Fellowship event recently, I wanted to be sure you knew about this upcoming event! We're really excited to be hosting Sulak Sivaraksa while he is in town from Thailand.

Hope to see you there! Please invite others you think would be interested.

I will not kill, I will not steal

Buddhist ways of living in the world of global violence and consumerism:
In Dialogue with Ajahn Sulak Sivaraksa

Date: Saturday March 24, 2012
Time: 2:00-3:30
Location: Berkeley Zen Center, 1929 Russell Street, Berkeley, CA

Join the Buddhist Peace Fellowship and Berkeley Zen Center in welcoming Ajahn Sulak Sivaraksa to Berkeley. A founder of the International Network of Socially Engaged Buddhists and recipient of the Right Livelihood Award, Sulak is renowned for his lifelong commitment to Buddhist engagement in peace and justice work.

The Niwano Peace Foundation awarded the 28th Niwano Peace Prize to Sulak Sivaraksa of Thailand on July 23 in recognition of his contribution to a new understanding of peace, democracy and development and to environmental preservation based on the core principles of his Buddhist faith. On the verge of his 79th birthday, join Sulak as he offers his wisdom on using Buddhist principles and practices as tools for peaceful, sustainable social change.

"Sulak is a lion. His great roar awakens social activists to their real vocation." - Roshi Joan Halifax

"Sulak and I share a conviction that if we are to solve human problems, economic and technological development must be accompanied by an inner spiritual growth." - The Dalai Lama

Event is free and open to the public. A portion of donations will benefit the Buddhist Peace Fellowship as we cultivate compassionate action in movements for social justice, our environment, and peace. Contact Dawn for additional information at da...@bpf.org or 510-239-3764.
