Hello Local Contacts,
Ævar suggested you'd be good people to spread the gospel about the
Google Data Liberation Front initiative.
In brief:
Google have an initiative to make sure data can't be "locked in" to Google. Usually this means adding an export function or using a well-known file format (e.g. GMail, Google Docs). But in the case of maps, as ever, it's licensing that's the problem. So we're asking that they sort out the licensing so people know where they stand with tracings from Google aerial imagery. What we'd like, of course, is that the tracings are unrestricted - so we could use them in OSM!
Google ask people to vote on these suggestions via Google Moderator. Our suggestion is at http://url.ie/2ero , and so far it has 414 votes - that's three times the next most popular. :)

Please, if you can, post it to your local lists and spread the word. We want it to be so well supported that Google feel they have to respond.

Cheers
Richard
