Season greetings.

I have been using Baudline as a signal analyzer for experimentation
with amateur radio Software Defined Radio for quite some time. This
weekend I have upgraded my computer to Ubuntu 10.10 AMD 64-bits and am
unable to run baudline. The error is:

$ ./baudline_1.08_linux_x86_64/baudline
could not open 10x20 font
could not open 5x7 font
X Error of failed request: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)
Major opcode of failed request: 3 (X_GetWindowAttributes)
Resource id in failed request: 0x0
Serial number of failed request: 504
Current serial number in output stream: 505

Searching for info on the error on Google, I found that it seems to be
related to missing fonts and here in the group there are some recipes
to fix the issue in Fedora. Unfortunately, it is not obvious what
package in Ubuntu would contain the missing fixed fonts. Has someone
fount a fix for Ubuntu?

Cheers,

-- Edson

I just tested baudline x86 with the Ubuntu 10.10 liveCD and it had all
of the needed fonts. I wonder why a full Ubuntu 10.10 install doesn't
have them?

Some Fedora users were getting the same missing fonts and BadWindow
X_GetWindowAttributes error. Installing these xorg-x11-fonts-* helped
them. Yum install instructions are here:

To add the missing Helvetica font on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS see:
