so I have tried the hardware accelerated GPU scheduling method and it does not work i have also uninstalled my graphics card drivers and reinstalled them, it every game I play it use all my CPU and it annoying my GPU be on like 7 all day long it does it for apex, fortnite, call of duty, adobe apps, discord even when I have the hardware acceleration turned it still does not use my GPU on discord it does it for most of everything my pc spec are not that great but still I know it works bc it have before can someone plz help me I don't know what to do like is their something I have to do in my bios or sum else because I am so confused
According to this Bottleneck Calculator your CPU is too slow for your GPU. In my understanding this basically means that while the CPU is working at its limits, the GPU has to wait for the data computed in the CPU. There are two ways to fix this.
Besides the hardware acceleration scheduling, you can specify the GPU for running the applications. If this doesn't work, it may seem that other software is interfering (some Control Panel or management tools for the GPU could be overriding) and I would recommend to post a question on the forums for your GPU manufacturer, where the community would have a specific expertise in that matters.
Please do not use Windows to try and update your graphics drivers as its very common for Microsoft to have out of date drivers. Please get current drivers from either geforce experience, you dont have to install if its not already running, or the Nvidia website.
You are going to need to upgrade your CPU, motherboard and RAM. I would also suggest at least a 3xxx series AMD CPU, not APU, though a 2xxx would be a huge upgrade in your case. AMD has decent cheap AM4 motherboards though you are probably going to have to get used parts for the CPU and motherboard. AM4 uses DDR4 so you can get that either new or used.
I have a Asus Zephryus G14 2022 with a RX 6700s and Ryzen 9 6900HS, and was running Adrenalin 23.7.1, when an update appeared for 23.7.2. I updated the drivers and ran the game as usual, expecting a long loading time due to shader compilation, but the loading times were being suspiciously long. I could not load into a match, but could load into the lobby. After about 10 minutes, the game would crash.
Clean Installation of Drivers: Completely uninstall the current drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) and then perform a clean installation of the Adrenalin 23.7.2 drivers. This can help ensure that any potential driver conflicts or remnants from previous installations are removed.
Verify Game Files: In the Epic Games Launcher, go to the Library, click on the three dots next to Fortnite, and select "Verify." This will check and repair any corrupted or missing game files that might be causing the issue.
Check Game Settings: In Fortnite's graphics settings, try lowering the DirectX12-specific settings to see if that helps. You can also try running the game in Fullscreen mode instead of Borderless Windowed mode.
Disable Overlays and Background Applications: Some overlays (like Discord overlay, AMD Radeon Overlay, etc.) and background applications can cause conflicts with games. Try disabling these overlays and closing unnecessary background applications while running Fortnite.
Keep in mind that driver updates and game patches can sometimes introduce new issues, and it might be necessary to wait for further updates or patches to resolve the problem. Meanwhile, using DirectX11 as a temporary solution can allow you to continue playing Fortnite until a fix is available for DirectX12.
As always, before making any changes to your system settings or performing updates, consider backing up important data and creating a system restore point, especially when dealing with driver installations.
I'm experiencing exactly the same thing even after trying to resolve it using these steps, as well as reinstallation Fortnite, VCC redistributables, DX12, and Adrenaline. After every update my framerate drops and Fortnite runs like trash (if it runs), but nothing else does. I was able to complete one round of BR using DX11, but whats the point of that?! I don't want to use DX11.
EDIT: After enabling nanite (ray tracing) settings it loaded into a match after 8 minutes, but ran horribly. I then switched back to non nanite mode and it loaded properly, but it ran much worse than ever before. It runs worse than when I would have nanite mode on before.
I saw on twitter yesterday Fortnite tried to post that the issues were resolved only to have them re-state they were hearing users were still experiencing issues and would be working on it an hour later.
I'm noticing that my memory usage is going up steadily when it's loading as well. Of my 40 GB of RAM, it's reaching 20 GB used in just Fortnite. I'm wondering if this could be due to a memory leak caused by the updates (possibly on both AMD/Fortnite's end)
Its incredible, 2 days and I can't play, I tried everything that is placed here and nothing works. If I try to play with DX12 the game doesn't even launch and if I play with DX11 the FPS drops, as I'm playing without meet the specs, can you help us to play decently.
I have been dealing with exactly the same issue. My pc isnt anything crazy but it can run D12 no problem. Just like you, everything was running fine until the last update. All my other games run fine, fortnite is the only one that ive been having this issue with. I was starting to think it was my pc, i just lost my job so the last thing i need is my pc **bleep**ing up lmao. Im trying the nanite thing as i type this with a timer set..its been 2 minutes so far of it "connecting". It would be really nice like said if someone could aid us properly or tell us whats really going on.
Dx12 mode is still super heavy on your GPU I wouldn't get your hopes up too high as running it myself on a 3060ti is a struggle. Something you can try in the meantime is turning on dx12, close the game then apply read only to the file so it doesn't change it back to 11.
Hey there.
So a year back, I tried fortnite on intel iris xe. So practically speaking, the game has 3 runways,
Performance mode
Dx11
Dx12
DX11 was extremely stuttery. Performance mode on the other hand could give 120 fps straight while dx12 could give 70 fps and worked decent. Pretty happy with it.
2 months later, stuff went bad.
Performance mode was massacred. It wouldn't render properly, and there were stutters EVERYWHERE. Point your camera at the ground, and no problem, with fps going to whopping 200s. Point somewhere above or just play the game normally, fps starts going like: 200 45 32 42 12 11 10 35, and so on. Made a post about this and they told it'd get fixed (didn't get fixed after a year although gotta admit, there's definitely an improvement. However still unplayable). Played dx12 meanwhile and started loving it a lot more than performance mode.
Then some months back, epic games, the creator of Fortnite pushed the game from unreal engine 5 to unreal engine 5.1. And this is where it goes out of hand.
UE 5 can run dx12 ONLY on graphics cards with an above shader model 6 and unfortunately iris xe has shader model 5.1. This kind of meant that the game itself would not allow players to run the pc on dx12, limiting us to dx11 and performance mode. As I said before, dx11 is unplayable and performance mode, well, improved but unplayable.
@Xillvion posted about this and finally told it'd get fixed.
Still not fixed.
It'd be cool if you could do something about this since if all future games started using ue5.1>= intel iris xe is going to have to go downhill. The game is entirely unplayable. Just try it.
This issue is currently being investigated based on the feedback and troubleshooting captured on your previous thread with the title Insane stuttering in fortnite performance mode. Given the recent update that you mentioned in which Fortnite was upgraded to only use Unreal Engine 5, I will check internally and see if there is an update regarding this issue. I will post back once I have more information for you.
Thanks a lot, will be looking forward to your response. BTW fortnite has been upgraded to only use unreal engine 5.1 which means that dx12 cannot be run since ue 5.1 goes with only graphics cards with shader model 6 and above.
Thank you for your patience. In regards to this issue, our driver developer team is still investigating the problem, at the moment we cannot provide a specific time for a fix to come out, however, once released it will be noted in the driver release notes.
Since there are no further questions, we will close this thread. In case you want to get an update on the issue you can reference the Bug ID number provide in my previous. Feel free to open a new thread in case you need further assistance.

I bought a Hp 260 G6 i3 notepad about 6 months ago. I have been using it mainly to play games on. I realise my laptop is not intended for this but I have been managing a few games such as Fortnite Battle Royale. In theory, my laptop is a 2 GHz but the requirements for the game are 2.2 meaning I should not be able to play some of these games. However, when I have tried other games, it just freezes; is there anyway I can help the problem of it being unable to run many games or should I just get a new laptop/PC?
There is no way to upgrade the graphics card, unless you replace the whole motherboard which would most likely cost more than replacing the PC and buying one with desired specs or building a "cheap" desktop PC for games.
