Hempproducts with a tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content of less than 0.3% dry weight, such as cannabidiol (CBD), Delta-9 and THCA, are available in Wisconsin under 2018 Farm Bill guidelines. Several dispensaries and hemp cafs throughout the area will host events and run specials in honor of 4/20 Day.

Pomona Cider (2163 N. Farwell Ave.) will partner with Kind Oasis to host 420 At the Taproom on April 20 from noon to 9 p.m. The event includes a hand-poke tattoo artist (tattoos make without tattoo machines), a DJ, infused snacks and cocktails, game tables, live art and product discounts.

Wana Brands, founded in 2010, is one of the top edible brands in the cannabis industry, producing millions of gummies annually. Just this week, it was announced that former Chief Marketing Officer Joe Hodas will succeed outgoing CEO and co-founder Nancy Whiteman. Amid the transition, the company is continuing its work to change the narrative around 4/20.

In the U.S., Black Americans are six times more likely to be arrested for drug charges than white Americans, despite using drugs at similar rates. Additionally, Black and Latino individuals make up 46.9% of arrests for drug charges despite making up only 31.5% of the U.S. population. Although states are legalizing the consumption of cannabis in all forms and are retroactively pardoning people convicted of marijuana charges in some cases, there is still a lasting stigma.

In 2023, the foundation gifted $50,000 to Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence, or SPAN, a Boulder-based organization that supports people affected by interpersonal violence. Kristina Quanbeck, events and marketing coordinator for SPAN, said the nonprofit helps those affected in every step of their recovery process.

The origins of the term 4/20 and its association with cannabis are somewhat debated, but it's commonly believed to have originated from a group of high school students in California in the early 1970s who used to meet at 4:20 p.m. to search for an abandoned cannabis crop.

Since then, April 20th has become a significant day for cannabis enthusiasts, with various events, festivals, and gatherings taking place around the world to celebrate the plant and advocate for its legalization.

On 4/20, many people partake in smoking or consuming cannabis, while others use the day as an opportunity to advocate for cannabis reform, attend educational events, or simply enjoy the cultural significance of the day.

Scott Spilger was another founder of the cafe with Puntney and Evan Dannells, who is now the sole owner. Spilger said he's been working with bakery employees as a consultant to help them "do what they do best."

Spilger works for Just Coffee and Dannells works as a chef at Lucille and Merchant. At this time neither is planning on taking full control of the business, but they also don't want to close or sell it.

Spilger recalled how a day of baking homemade graham crackers and drinking bourbon led to part of the bakery's concept, developing more adult versions of childhood treats like oatmeal cream pies ("the Big Deb") and Oreos ("M'Oreos").

A story last year in Madison Magazine noted that Puntney knew "just about everyone's names" and quoted her as saying "many of our customers are my neighbors and friends ... it's a really cool spot and we all really care about each other."

With the news yesterday from Lora Jones - Business reporter, BBC News, asking when we can hope to see our pubs, restaurants & cafes reopen it feels like the whole hospitality sector is waiting in limbo for the green light to open and in what form.

For those of you that know me, I love nothing more than a challenge and being uniquely placed with my payments industry knowledge to find a solution, I quickly set about finding the right payment and software partners, with the right ethos to make this happen.

More importantly it was being able to adapt this App to offer the order & pay at table options for when we are able to re-open The Green Man for full table service, and will be the difference between mine and many other pubs, restaurants or cafs surviving lock-down or sadly may never opening again.

Using the CleanClicks online link, customers can book a table, choose from our menu and, within a few clicks, order and pay for their food and drinks from their phone. Customers who drop in unannounced can be seated at a safe social distance from other diners either inside or in the beer garden and use the App to safely order their food and pay. All from their table, reducing the interactions needed with serving staff and increasing speed of service which will result in reducing our costs!
