Now, I greatly disagree with Peter's take on search, particularly in
regard to Google (and will probably blog about his comments soon), but
his highlight of TalentZoo, Aunt Minnie and the Dayton newspapers
toward the end are to relevant to fellow 'battling free' fighters.

Thanks for pointing out the article. I'm in your camp Joel and disagree
with Peter and his take on the role of search engines. What I find very
interesting in this discussion are the two very different perspectives and
points of view internet marketers and recruiters bring to the table. One
focuses on qualified traffic and the other focuses on qualifying candidates.

I'm kind of on the fence for this one. I see the value of vertical
search engines but also see the value of having a niche 'community
portal' that may or may not help in attracting passive job seekers. As
I only work in the Retail sector I can see elements of both working.
I'll be including various bits into my own site so watch this space...
