Ron Moore has said we'll have some sense for when or how Galactica
will find earth by the end of this season. He also noted he is still
mulling when and how to do the Pegasus storyline in the new series.
With that in mind.....
Starbuck crashed last week, after the Nuggets got jumped by Raiders
that appeared to come from nowhere. Without reading the spoilers out
there, I'm guessing this means the Cylons have physical bases out
there, and the Galactica and her fleet are headed towards them.
The behind the scenes show had a clip with Six actually being on the
Galatica and Baltar reacting as if he still thought she were in his
head. I'm wondering if she doesn't wind up crawling out of the Raider
that they capture.
I don't know how he'll handle it. But there are some things I hope we
don't see with Pegasus coming into the series. First, I hope it isn't
a single week, or even just a two-part story. When the story runs the
course, I hope they don't wind up destroying Pegasus, or implying its
destruction. I'd like to see a story that runs along the lines of
Galactica having encountered the raiders this week, because they were
part of a group trying to find Pegasus, or at least that the fleet
learns there are indications of somebody else still fighting out
there, and even Galatica can't find her.
You could spin Boomer being sent to find them, playing off the whole
"she's a Cylon" theme. Maybe mix it into the Caprica/Helo side-story
and imply there was a doomsday plan within the Colonial military,
which in the even of an attack, scattered some forces, who had orders
none of the others knew. The cylon agent on Ragnar did say in talking
about the radiation there, "thats why you hid a fleet here." Maybe
there was a fleet, which is why Adama ordered the remaining Colonial
military there. However by the time they got there, that fleet had
already sortied, maybe with Pegasus or others.
Thus, the Galactia and Helo are being used by the Cylons as part of
their "plan" to flush out the human's most tightly guarded plans to
defend against them.
In a sense, Earth plays into that. I still think Adama does actually
know where Earth is, or at least that it exists. So do some others,
and they, perhaps Pegasus, are trying to get to it.
In the end, Pegasus Should be sent back onto her own, thus preserved
for future seasons. It could be explained that the frequent jumps by
the fleet with both battlestars in tow, drain fuel to fast. Pegasus
on her own, can move more efficiently, and also draw attention away
from Galatica. Thus it is decided to let her resume her independent
operations.
In the meantime, Adama doesn't reveal that Earth in fact exists,
because he doesn't want the Cylons to charge ahead of them and find
it.
