I've only seen the first few episodes, so....

1. How is it that Dr. Baldasar can see, hear and touch the
female cyborg when no one else can? Is he just a mental case?

2. What's up with the 30 minute clock they use to jump space?

3. How far do they "jump", and is the jump just plain random?
(if so, good thing they don't wind up inside/too near a star or
blackhole)

4. Why did they cast a female Starbuck? Shouldn't they have renamed her
Stardoe?

5. What's up with the consistantly shakey camera shots?
(makes it hard to focus sometimes)

That said, I loved the original series. But it's good they updated a
good story. And the special effects are awesome.

In the beginning of the series, the Cylon lady claimed to have planted
some sort of chip into his brain while he was asleep.

I think, though, that Balter is actually just insane.

1. As someone already said, Dr. B. supposedly has a chip implanted in
his head so that he can see/her her. But yes, I also think he's simply
going insane, though she may be actually there.

2. The 30 minute clock, as I understand it, was how long it took the
Cylons to track them down. Somehow the Cylons were able to find them
after each jump; thus the days of jumping continuously. By the end of
the episode it's resolved why they were being tracked so easily.

3. Distance is never really explained, but the jump is planned.
Again, we're not told how or where, but I think it's safe to assume
that Adama is either plotting the course to "Earth" or towards the
largest star cluster of unexplored space he thinks they can get to.

4. I think mostly because of two reasons: First, a female Starbuck
provides a much more diverse starring female cast--the first series
didn't focus on women much at all, though there were a few. Second,
it's more interesting with Starbuck as a woman, frankly. You get to
bring her in as a real star character that isn't Apollo's wingman;
she's her own ace, her own pilot. In that regard, they're able to do
more stories centered around her, create more complex relationships,
etc. That comes into play in the later episodes.

5. Shaky cam is a (relatively) new Hollywood trend. You could also
argue that it provides a more tense and chaotic scene.

Baltar isn't nuts. Note that the Cylons on Caprica want Helo and
Sharon to mate, the Six on the planet isn't happy about it.

What is going on here is that Six wanted to be the Cylon that has a
child with a human, or at all. That is why she prodded Baltar about
loving her, and about having kids of their own. When he didn't love
her, or want kids, it hurt her, and seeing Sharon do it hurts more.

Now I've read the spoiler about Kobol's Last Gleaming, so I know what
Six does with Baltar. Though it does not in any way explicitly lay
out her intent, nor does mentioning that spoil anything you shouldn't
be able to get from what has been on the air.

Exactly what the point of the "plan" they have is, or what having
children has to do with it is beyond me at this point.

The "new" Cylon can make themselves invisible when they take human
form. Taking human form is bad enough but to be able to be seen or not
at will is beyond the pale. That is why everyone freaked when they said
that they were now in human form. The "drones" are still the ones
walking around in the tin suits. The Dr is my lest favorite in these
show so far.
Re female starbuck I think it is great to show that there will be
"broads" in any age, there certainly have been plenty in the past!!!!
