Kaltura Capture, also referred to as Personal Capture, is a program that allows you to record your screen and webcam simultaneously, making it a great program to use for recorded presentations or lectures. Recordings made in Kaltura Capture are uploaded directly to your Kaltura account once you're done recording. Kaltura Capture, also sometimes referred to as Personal Capture, is a program that allows you to record screencasts that are then directly uploaded to Kaltura. You can also record your webcam as you share your screen, which makes Kaltura Capture ideal for recording presentations. Videos made with Kaltura Capture allow for switching between the recorded sources as well, allowing you to switch between viewing a presenter's webcam and their screen at any time.
Advance your slides and speak as you normally would. Everything on your screen is being recorded, including your mouse movements, and any applications or other onscreen objects that you interact with.
Note: videos that you play on screen will not record well in Kaltura Capture, because the audio will not be recorded and image quality will suffer. We recommend posting additional videos separately from the recordings you make with Kaltura Capture.
If you minimized the Kaltura Capture control panel during your recording it will be in your Tray (PC) or dock (Mac). The tray and dock are the list of icons usually arranged at the bottom of the screen.
If you are using PowerPoint presentation, Kaltura Capture will capture thumbnail images of each slide and add them as time-based interactive markers to your presentation. Kaltura will also parse the slide show for keywords and make them searchable.
With Kaltura Capture application, you have ability to capture the screen, a camera, and the audio inputs. To create a recording of a camera and the screen, all you need to do to start recording is click the big red button. After a short countdown the recording will start.
Once you launch Kaltura Capture, the Kaltura Capture recorder is displayed. The Kaltura Capture recording tool includes, recording button. Press the red button to start your recording screen and camera preview. Once you choose one of the options below, we recommend you to run a recording test to make sure everything is in order before you actually do your recording.
There are some options to configure settings for each one of them, including your audio. You can easily record any combination of screen and camera. Kaltura Capture provides several recording options:

Kaltura Personal Capture is a desktop application that helps you record presentations and screencasts using any combination of voice, webcam video, screen action, and PowerPoint slides. You can then upload and manage your recordings alongside other Kaltura content in MediaSpace and/or the Kaltura tools in Canvas (My Media and Media Gallery).
Kaltura Personal Capture lets you record video and audio from multiple sources. To select sources, in the "Kaltura Personal Capture" window, select each of the three drop-down menus and choose the cameras, screens, or microphones you wish to record:
Third - do a short test capture of any graphics with small detail or text to see what the quality will look like in Kaltura MediaSpace before doing your full capture. If there is any text that is difficult to read consider whether you can increase the size of the text or reduce the amount of text on the slide to make it more readable. If you can't, proceed to one of the workarounds below.
Using a non-Apple monitor externally to your Mac will allow you to manually set the resolution in your Displays System Preference. Make sure you set the resolution to as close to 1920 x 1080 as you can, and do a test capture before doing your full capture:
This will both give you an accurate representation on your monitor of what you are capturing and make sure you capture 1080p quality (1920 x 1080). Be sure to double check your Kaltura Capture Screen recording quality preference as described above.
Microsoft Powerpoint for Office 365 is capable of recording Powerpoint slideshows and exporting them as MP4 files which can be uploaded to Kaltura. For more information please see Microsoft's documentation Record a slide show with narration and slide timings. You'll need to check with your your local departmental IT staff to see if they can install it for you. Alternately screen capture tools like TechSmith Camtasia are capable of capturing higher resolution and quality but would need to be purchased.

With Kaltura Capture you can mix and match combinations of cameras, screens and microphone. Use the icons to toggle which of these sources you want to include in your recording, and the dropdown menus to select different devices. If the source is blue and not grayed out, it will be included in your recording.

7) Click the dropdown arrow next to Screen to select monitor settings. If there is more than one monitor connected to your computer, select the monitor screen you wish to capture in your recording. Then select Full screen or Area.
12) After you stop recording, you will see a window of your screen capture recording located on your local computer. Type in the name of the recording. Consider including your name and the assignment name in the recording title. Click Save & Upload.

When you record a slide presentation the Kaltura application uploads the slides as chapters and indexes the text so it can be searched for in the video. When recording slides, PowerPoint must be in Slide Show mode. Follow these steps to set your screen settings for recording a presentation.

We recommend setting Kaltura Capture to show the screen on the left side of the control panel, which makes it the primary source. Camera should be to the right as the secondary source.

All recorded presentations can be easily uploaded to your My Media library in myLesley with just one click.
Once you launch Kaltura Capture, the record options will appear. By default, Kaltura Capture will record your webcam, screen, and microphone. You can toggle each of these options on and off by clicking on them.
