Before marking this as duplicate please read through my doubts. I searched thoroughly on the web(particularly stackoverflow) & couldn't get the doubts cleared. This question may seem lengthy at a glance but it contains crucial issues which others also want to know.
I'm trying to gain a slightly deep knowledge in the bulletproof @font-face rule and the people out there are confusing me. Please suggest me on this guys. So, here's the latest bulletproof code as suggested by Font-Spring ( -hardening-of-the-bulletproof-syntax/) along with the IE9 compatibility mode issue solved:
Currently, I'm reading a book "The Book Of CSS3" by Peter Gasston. It follows the bulletproof rule with IE9 Compatibility Mode fix as stated by the Font-Spring. He says that the rule with a query string ? in the second src property is responsible for IE9 Compat. Mode fix. But, font-spring holds the first src property responsible for IE9 Compat. Mode fix. I'm not able to learn this syntax without understanding it completely.
My serious issues are rather smaller. First of all I wanna know if only the ?#iefix can prevent the parsing error or it could be something like ?iefix (without #) or it could be ?xyz or ?#abc. Is it necessary to write exactly ?#iefix?
Whether in IE8 or in IE9 compatibility mode, local() value will make them go away.. Would IE9 in normal mode use eot or woff from above rule?? If it does use eot, can we make a slight change to first src property like this:
This is simply a trick to workaround the various IE* inconsistencies, with the first src you satisfy IE9, so if your viewer has this browser he gets this font, the second src doesn't overwrite the first one because IE9 isn't able to parse the 'webfont.eot?#iefix' string
About the second src of the rule: that is the "old" bulletproof syntax and you are already familiar with it. Please note that, as said in the blog post of Fontspring about the hardened rule, Microsoft fixed the bug in IE9 when using IE7 and IE8 render modes but they didn't actually fixed IE7 and IE8 so you still need this trick for these browsers.
A clarification about local(): this tell to the browser to use a certain local (i.e. on the pc of the viewer of the page) available font, if your viewer doesn't have it installed then he'll not be able to see the right font, for more info about this you can check this: -font-face-implementation-syntax/#smiley
This healthy, frothy, dreamy, creamy Whole30 Bulletproof coffee is beyond delicious and get's a perfect latte-like cup every time. Whether you are on the Whole30, Paleo, Keto, or Dairy Free this coffee will give the energy boost you crave plus lots of health benefits.
I have been a coffee person since I was 12. Seriously. And I am one of those who have a pretty complicated order at Starbucks.I know.pretty basic of me ;). Mainly because I am watching my sugar intake. I will order a nonfat chai tea latte with no syrup or an upside down caramel macchiato with 1 pump of sugar free syrup.
But on the Whole30 diet, the above mentioned delicious concoctions have no place in this plan. They all have sugar or dairy. Therefore they are out of the game. Since beginning my Whole30, I have gone from having 1-2 cups of coffee a day to none or the occasional weekend cup of coffee and a lot of green tea as my hot bevy options.
It is the true superfoods of the coffee world. It is coffee + high quality fats (traditionally known as "butter coffee") + MCT (medium-chain triglycerides) oil = a satiating hot beverage that will keep you full all morning long (of course along with a real breakfast ;)) it's also been proven to boost brain function - and I NEED that in the morning. Since it keeps you full those who are doing intermittent fasting or time restricted eating will benefit here to as this shouldn't break your fast. And honestly if you follow my method below you will have the most amazingly delicious creamiest cup of coffee I ever made at home!
I love keeping things as simple as possible in general. I typically design ALL my recipes around what I usually have in my fridge or pantry. That being said, this Whole30 Coffee contains normal pantry staples that can be found at any local grocery store.
Coconut cream: no need to buy something special here. Simply pop a can of coconut milk in the fridge and voila! That thick creamy coconut milk becomes thick and the perfect coconut cream for this drink.
Grass-fed Ghee: I LOVE adding ghee as my fat source of choice here (and in most of my recipes) it sits at room temperature and also is great option for those needing a dairy free option. However if adding this doesn't float your boat you can always use mct oil powder as a substitute.
A sprinkle of Cinnamon: Not only does it add a nice touch of spice but it also has a slew of health benefits such as its full of antioxidants, which help your body handle free radicals and lowers your risk of health conditions like cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.
I love whirling this coffee drink in a high speed blender because of the frothiness but you can also us a standard milk frother. Pretty much can mimic the best that other coffee shops can offer without costing $6 for a grande. Right?
Swap out the coconut cream - if coconut isn't your thing no worries! Or if you simply like your coffee black for a more concentrated coffee flavor. But if you do want to make a milk swap use unsweetened almond milk and cashew milk.
Give it a protein boost! - for those days where you are in a rush and need a little extra nutrients (most days am I right?) toss in a scoop of protein in! I love adding in some collagen peptides (This is my go to here). And if you are not on the Whole30 and want to make this into a vanilla Whole30 Bulletproof latte I love adding in this as it adds a hint of sweetness and fuels your body long enough to get through those mid-morning tummy grumbles!
Switch it up from using ghee - Although I am a fan of ghee you can always exchange it for coconut oil as a great addition as well as a one for one swap of healthy fats in this coffee! Or you can always opt for the traditional brain octane oil! So many choices with endless delicious caffeine concoction one could ever want!
Add a touch of sweetness - Again, if not on the Whole30 trend I like to add a drop or two of honey or maple syrup!
So happy to find this as I am like you and LOVE my coffee and just can't stand it black. I am almost Whole 30 compliant when it comes to actual food but was absolutely dreading giving up the half & half in my coffee. Thank you so much for posting this!!
Wish I'd had this recipe last January when I lasted only 2 weeks on Whole 30. Using it this time with delicious results...thank you. I also vary the spice, I have a diy pumpkin spice mix from the Kitchn.. -to-make-pumpkin-pie-spice-cooking-lessons-from-the-kitchn-69245
I LOVE bulletproof coffee and have found that I like it better than than fancy pants coffee shop drinks. I use coconut oil instead of cream though though and a liter more butter ? Never added cinnamon, but I bet that would make a nice 'Fall' drink! How are you liking the Whole30? It seems a bit daunting for me, but something I'd like to try.
Great question. Coconut cream is approved. It's actually outlined in the whole30 cookbook. Just read your labels on the can! Some have "cellulose" which is a no no on the W30. I love the one from Native Forest. The Trader Joe's coconut cream is not approved. Good luck on your Whole30 and let me know if you have any questions!
I'm a chai latte girl, so I've often wondered what made coffee bulletproof. However, butter and ghee and I are well acquainted. I think I'll try this out next time I have a house full of coffee lovers!
3) my new wedge sneakers that i was inspired to get because of sarah lynn's shoes on bojack horseman and i'm so obsessed with them. i feel like i'm in back to the future and i never want to take them off.
being in la jolla always takes me back to the days when my name is yeh was a newborn, when i'd interview my family and friends and take pictures of night time tacos with my little point and shoot. did you know my name is yeh was born in los angeles...7 years ago?? and then when it was just a few days old we drove down to la jolla and i blogged up a storm while my dad was in rehearsal. i think i made like 30 blog posts in that one week i was there. including one about shopping lololololol.
for this trip, i'm excited to play castanets in some prokofiev, go to a padres game, see my san diego homies, run outside without getting avalanched by mosquitos, and maybe make a mini cake with mia because she is apparently becoming quite the cake stylist these days!
when i was in tel aviv earlier this month, shiran so sweetly schlepped all of the ingredients for this tiramisu ombre cake over to my airbnb. i was so stinkin excited for this cake but then my stupid airbnb oven didn't work!!! i was so sad and couldn't shake my new craving for coffee in a cake, so this is one of the first things i made when i got home and then i brought it to my friend emily's birthday party. i put cardamom in it because cardamom and coffee are like potato chips and ketchup. potato chips (and coffee) are great on their own but adding ketchup (or cardamom) takes things over the top, am i right?? and it's dressed in an outfit of coffee buttercream, aka bulletproof frosting. (it's really just coffee and butter and sugar but bulletproof sounds really cool (to get actually bulletproof-y, make sure you use grassfed butter (well, you should do that anyway since it tastes good))). so go on, get buzzed on caffeine and have your cake too!
