Ihave another problem which is making me very annoyed at the app. When I use the touch features to scroll through the video skipping the boring parts with subtitles the subtitles go out of sync, it never used to do that before. You need to have a smart in since subtitle thing. Also please make sure for subtitle time offset try and make it so when you click it it goes back to the video and opens a floating menu in a part of the screen to see if you have the right offset and adjust it on the fly. Also please make a feature to automatically add the most downloaded subtitle file for all of your available files.

I added subtitles to my FCPX project using CEA -608. When I play the movie within FCPX project everything is OK and the subtitles visible. However sharing the file to Vimeo or export file, the subtitles do not appear visible.

I am currently trying to play a video file on VLC Media Player. The video file is from an episode of a TV show, and it doesn't come with subtitles. When I play the video on VLC Media Player by simply opening File Explorer and clicking on the file in the front page Quick Access menu, the video plays with no error whatsoever. However, I am trying to add a subtitle .srt file to the video. When I try adding the subtitle file to the video, the entire thing stops working, even if I disable the subtitle again. If I delete my subtitle file, the video plays properly, but I want to keep the subtitles. For my issue, I get this result:VLC Media Player not playing video.Thank you in advance!

I was facing the same issue, actually the thing is that the video you are playing is in (ts or mp4 MPEG) codec u can also check this from (tools-media information-codec) in VLC,i searched everywhere but currently there is no solution for this as the VLC doesn't support any format of subtitles with MPEG videos. so u just have to download POT player it will work 100% .this is only solution i know.Hope it helps

HI all. New adopter of Emby here, and of home theatre software in general. I'm primarily using it to stream anime with English subtitles to my Chromecast gen 2. My Emby server is an old laptop for now while I'm still prototyping my setup.

Looking into the logs, however, it seems that the actual subtitle extraction takes only a few seconds even with my laptop's low specs; the actual delay seems to be between when playback is first requested and when the extraction is first requested.

Hi, thanks for the reply. The subtitle setting was already set to English (rather than 'none') prior to playback. So, while producing the output above I did not change any subtitle settings; my only interaction with the app interface was pressing the play button. After that the subtitles did appear on their own shortly after that last log line was logged.

If there's no answer to this question forthcoming, can someone at least indicate a workaround? Do I need a more powerful server? Or do I need to replace my Chromecast with something else? Hoping to have something to go on so I can work on this some more this weekend

It takes about 50 seconds for ASS subtitles to start on my Chromecast Ultra, even if they're cached or external. They then flash by quickly until they're caught up with the video. Web playback on my phone doesn't exhibit this problem. I'm running server version 4.2.1.0 on Arch Linux.

Is there really no useful information for this case? If someone can tell me that buying some other streaming device will fix my problems i'll buy it, of it my hardware needs to be upgraded or whatever.

Curiously, if you stop the video and play it again it seems to go through this whole process again, rather than using the previously extracted subtitles. The web player seems to be able to find previously extracted subtitles and display them without issue.

I actually don't think the problem is the extraction. The rendering library we use is quite large and also comes with a pretty large font file. It could just be taking a long time to load on Chromecast devices. I'll have to see what we can do there. Thanks.

Video starts playing first, then we load the subtitle rendering library, then that requests the subtitle url. I think the library is taking a while to load before it is able to actually download the subtitles.

Just for complement the information. I having the same problem with with animes episodes with the same behavior on chromecast playback, but my ASS subtitles are in external files to prevent ffmpeg extraction.

Got the same problem. Ended up using Synology Video Station which works flawlessly. Currently embedded ASS subtitles don't work for me. Tried setting up a server on my windows 10 PC with a Core i7-10700k, same problem.

Thank you for your response ,

When I play the video on in the browser, the subtitles start after about 5 - 10 seconds. I can't find the Chromecast when using the app.emby.media (It just shows Play On) but no chromecast to pick. When I start casting to the chromecast using my IP address or domain name from the NAS, subtitles are gone and it takes about 2 minutes and the video freezes or starts stuttering heavily during those 2 minutes. When I use DS video it works fine, seems DS video does something different with the subtitles to make it work.

Hi, after updating to 1.1.7 Skybox won't read .srt subtitles anymore. I had no problem on 1.1.6 but in 1.1.7 through my network harddrive, Skybox won't load the subtitles, even if they are placed in the same folder as the video and they have the same name. I checked files previously working.

Please fix this, I couldn't enjoy my movie night tonight ?

You just need to click SKYBOX's Global Settings, change the Logging Levels to "Info", reproduce the issue, then click the BUG icon in the upper-right corner of Global Settings, and send us a bug report attached with logs(tick the "upload logs" box). Thanks.

The copywriter also got the audio and used it to write all the spoken text, creating the line breaks deemed necessary to make the subtitles in After Effects. Whenever there was a period without subtitles, she added a blank line to the document.

With this, you probably have already figured how both expressions work together, right? Every time we pass through a marker, the split expression will take a look on the envelope to see the number it holds, and then it shows us the corresponding text block at the right time.

That was when Thomas Euvrie helped me. In this post, he happily explains that After Effects CC 2015 (13.5) ignores simple expression issues without disabling them. The only thing that pops up is the orange banner that we are used to already. Remember when there was a pop-up on the screen playing chord.wav at full volume?

Follow the aforementioned workflow to work with your subtitles in After Effects. Use the formatting you want, you can change fonts, colors, drop shadows, without any limits. Remember to take the contrast into account to allow a good readability on any background, I tend to opt for a yellow font, with black contour and drop-shadow, much in the vein of VHS subtitles.

Hello everyone! I am working on my channel with custom videoplayer (video node is a child of my ui screen). And I am constantly facing a problem with subtitles. I have an hls format stream and when I enable imbedded subtitle tracks (setting subtitleTrack field of Video node and globalCaptionMode to "On") - everything works fine. But sometimes when I try to change subtitleTrack to select other language, it causes player to buffer and after buffering is done subtitles start displaying from the very beginnig while video playback continues. This causes subtitles being out of sync after changing language. I've tried disabling globalCaptionMode before chaning track and then enabling it back, but it didn't work out. Any ideas will be highly appreciated as work on this problem for two weeks already and can't find the way out.

I was told to try and use the Subcap effect to change all the many many subtitles I have in a timeline. The tutorials I saw say to throw it in a filler in your timeline, make the properties you want, apply it to track in the synchronize tab, then import your subtitles file that you can alter afterwards if needed.

The problem is that I created all those titles within Avid and do not have a subtitles file that someone created for me. I tired throwing the effect in a filler in the sequence and it would not recognize that there are titles in the layer above or below it to change. I tried changing the sycnrhonize to Sequence and Clips and still nothing!

I have subtitled entire features before using SubCap- as Pat says, not the most ideal, but it can work. I add a subcap effect to the top layer of the V tracks. Then, with waveforms active on my dialog track, I add edits at the beginning and end of active dialog areas. From there, I use the delete effect button and remove all the in between stuff. Once done, I go into effect mode and enter dialog. I wish the effect would let you loop play while typing, and some other things like that. Sometimes working off the master list works better.

I then export out a DS Caption list with timings, and had a friend create a retimer XSLT file to retime all the captions so I have 23.976, 30 (with pulldown),25fps, etc. I then have another XSLT that makes it into a TAB file and I have a single spreadsheet with all timing for distribution with dialog. I then added character name myself. On on film, I had it translated and the spreadsheet gets that language lined up as a column.
