SoI went into the sound browser and filtered by kick. I went through every kick, and they all sounded terrible, not one was even close to the one in pattern A6. I did do a factory reset, so I assume the drive has all the factory sounds in there - but if the names of them are not shown anywhere, how do you work around that?

I just went to a blank pattern and then reviewed the kicks on the drive, and they sounded much better. So the factory pattern must have had some parameters set which ruined the sound of most kicks on the drive.

Last night I noticed that some of the downloads (not srg2520) and factory presets weren't putting out any signal. Everything was still there, visually...just no sound. And if I continued to scroll the presets; eventually I'd hit presets with sound, again.

First, I recommend to run the 'Rebuild Presets' procedure: With HX Stomp turned off, press and hold the upper and lower knobs while powering on, wait for "Will rebuild presets.." and let go. The HX Stomp will rebuild all presets.

Moving forward, always ensure your HX Stomp and HX Edit are both up to date, current FW is 3.11. If your HX Stomp is on old firmware there may be models in the downloaded presets that are not installed on your HX Stomp, and if your HX Edit is on different FW than your Stomp, you may experience odd behavior after transferring presets.

What's odd about it is that these presets were running without a problem previous to when I checked them out last night. I've had the unit for about 2 weeks, now, and this was the first time I noticed anything amiss.

I just now checked out a video about updating. I ended up downloading Line 6 Updater.pkg (thought I don't think I need it?), but my computer won't run it because it says "Apple can't check it for malicious software. This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information".

There was also a section of the Update video talking about running an overwrite in order to fully integrate the newer amps etc. Said it doesn't do it automatically, as that would erase all my tones, IRs, etc. Again: I already had these presets working before...so don't know that that's the issue. Wondering if I should do that or if I've mistakenly changed something in Global Settings (I'm just now getting the hang of not touching anything "nearby" while making changes).

Regarding those factory presets which doesn't make any sound, aren't they named as "4CM:..." ? If they are, you need to hook the stomp up using 4 cable method. You can find details from HX Stomp manual.

I decided to try a factory reset, first. Just resetting the presets didn't do the trick. Exact same 27 presets with no sound. So I tried a complete reset, including Global Settings and that solved the problem. I think I may have accidentally changed a Global Setting in my travels. It's so easy to accidentally brush against something or other while cruising around on the device.

I recently got my Super6 and am somewhat disappointed by the factory patches/presets. What I heard on the net is so much better than most of the presets, being somehow kind of ordinary analog synth sounds - apart from the binaural feature.

(wonder that UDO does not give more care on them - personal opinion of course!))

You bought extremely powerful synth that can sound like jupiter/juno, over ppg to something completely new.

You can, but dont have to buy presets. Super 6 is one of the most fun to program synths i had chance to work with recently. Can you post a few videos with the patches you like, I would be happy to show you how to create them in my videos.

Also, UDO did great job on presets, showcasing pretty much everything this synth can do. But not everything can fit in the factory bank - today I made about 6 - 7 patches that sound nothing like each other. Some sound like vintage poly, some like modern analogue, some like gnarly wave stuff.

As an exercise how about trying to turn the whole bank of factory presets into your own sounds that you love. Tweak and overwrite each of them. You will have fun and learn some things. Even turn mono patches into poly one etc. No rules.

The headphones sound horrendous. It could be that headphones need to meet a certain ohm rating or something I dunno - but mine are I think Seinheizer HD300's or something along those lines. I didn't think much of it with those because they've sounded terrible with my Boss GT-100 and POD-HD500X as well.

As far as the presets they are pretty terrible. I had hoped they would spend a lot of time designing nice presets and made a post as such a while back - I'm not sure how they are being designed but I am simply plugging up my Helix direct to studio monitors. If I start a new patch, drop the JC120 model in and a plate stereo reverb - it's sounds amazing - much better than any preset I could find.

Those factory presets are 98% useless, I was very concerned when I first started playing them, fortunately it isn't hard to get really good tones by creating your own. I think their choice of cabs and mics is the culprit.

The factory presets should sound better with the 1.03 firmware. There was a bug in previous firmware a that set the mic for all the cabs to be the SM57 at 1". This is a pretty harsh sounding mic in many cases, and it's not what most of the factory presets were actually meant to have.

I have yet to try Helix, but I'm not surprised at your experience with the factory patches. It was the same with the 500 series PODs. Mostly unusable...personally I chalk it up to the myriad variables that go into patch creation. What else plays a role? Everything. The guitar, the pickups. How is the sound getting out? FRFR/PA speaker(s), a tube amp, headphones, or studio monitors? How about the room the guy was sitting in? Wall-to-wall carpet, wood floor, concrete warehouse? There's just no way you can expect them to sound the same when you change half of the elements in the equation.

The info about the '57 mic bug is huge. I almost never change microphones on the different cabinets. I just quickly scrolled through the 50 or so presets I've created. Almost all of them have 57 mic on them! How did I not notice that?

Changing the cab to another cab & back again replaces the '57 with the default mic. Looks like I'm doing more tweaking....not that I'm complaining. This this sounds so good already and is so much fun!

When I first got it it had firmware 1.0 I went through the whole factory preset one and was not really happy at the sounds I was hearing then I noticed there was a factory 2 bank started going through that and was pleasantly surprised and really liked the presets that were there I have yet to go back to the other factory presets even since loading the newest firmware.

There is there is a guy that I met on the 11 rack forum he goes by the name "Singtall" he made a preset pack of dang near every artist that you could think of and nailed all of them then he got the EPSI IR loader and Took the 11 rack to a new level the guy has definitely got in the ear for dialing up tone on these amp simulating machines he recently got an atomic amplifier and started to make presets for it someone over at atomic evidently caught wind of some of what he was doing and put some of his presets on on their site for people to download I've always said if one of the big three companies would grab this guy and give him their machine and let him do all the factory presets they would definitely pay for themselves as people would be singing the praises of their machine because right out of the box there would be useable presets that people would notice.

So if somebody's over at Line 6 would get a hold of the guy give him a helix and let him make a preset pack and just start with the next firmware update change all the factory presets to his. I guarantee you wouldn't be sorry.

I had the same problem with my HD500. Right now (meaning as I type this) I'm over playing heavy stuff and getting back to funk for the day. I went in to the HD500 presets and was pretty disappointed. So I just take the ones I made for heavy sounds, dialed 'em back, and letting the funk do it.
