Lookingat traveling with my bike abroad (Mallorca)and looking at either the Bike Box Alan Aero Easyfit or the Scicon Aerocomfort 3, both allow the handle bars to be left in situ, just remove pedals and wheels, which box/bag are people using?

I used a soft case a few times in the past from Glasgow and Edinburgh to and from Amsterdam (EasyJet) and Mallorca a few times (Jet2). Though I did upgrade to a harder case just because the soft case I had was a nightmare to drag about.

It certainly depends on the details and circumstances, but we went the other way, from hard cases to soft. Overall, the soft cases were smaller and much lighter. The size and malleability made it easier to fit on transit transporting the bikes and to deal with when empty.

I have used my Scion Aero3 twice now without issue. I do add foam piping to forks , over the hoods and to chain stays and over the seat, which I lower a few inches , out of an abundance of caution. Love the light weight, ability to put helmet and energy powders and tools in, either in the additional bag or water bottles retained in cages.

Some cycling bells are difficult to attach to your bike because of the shape of the tube or handlebar. This bell will fit on almost every handlebar to make sure you are noticed on every bike. No need to shout!

The Easyfit is the biggest Bike box available anywhere. As you might expect, the Easyfit inherits the same DNA as its Multi award winning Bike Box Alan cousin, the Premium. So if you have a Triathlon Bike or the latest generation of Aero road bike with or without hydraulic disc brakes or if you simply want the absolute minimum of component removal, this is the bike box for you.

Bike Box Alan bike boxes are manufactured in Yorkshire, England by company founder and lifelong cyclist Alan Hamshaw. Hamshaw or 'Bike Box Alan' founded the company back in the early noughties after becoming frustrated with repeatedly repairing the leading bike box brand of the day's wares. Spotting a gap in the market he decided he could, and would, do better.

Fast forward to the present day and the Bike Box Alan range has five different hard-case bike boxes including a hard wheel case and a racing wheelchair bike box, as well as a range of accessories and spare parts available. Bike boxes are available to rent or buy and are used by amateurs and professional riders alike to keep their bikes safe whilst travelling abroad, specifically when flying.

The BikeBox Alan Triathlon Aero Easyfit Bikebox is a secure, easy-to-pack thing that's brilliantly thought out. The wide section for handlebars means there's no need to start dismantling your bike, but that extra bulk can cause a few issues with car boots and check-ins.

Nearly two years later the world is absolutely fine (terms and conditions apply), so I was very happy to jet off to the south of France for a week with a brand new Merida Scultura Team E. I know, I know; it's still a bit of a chore, but please don't feel sorry for me.

To get the 54cm Merida into the box, I had to remove the wheels and pedals. That was it. The wheels go into clearly-labelled slots and are held by Velcro straps. I thought it would be a little flimsy, but soon realised the wheels weren't going anywhere.

There is plenty of space left for spare kit, tools and even a track pump. You just need to wrap and wedge everything carefully. Your pedals can be secured with dedicated straps too, though I prefer to carry mine in hand luggage with my shoes. It just makes hiring a bike a bit easier, should the airline misplace your own. Your own, ten grand bike...

The wide base was also behind some gentle(ish) ramming of the box into a Peugeot hire car, but I'll happily blame the designer of the wavy Peugeot boot for this one. The box is fastened by a number of clasps, and they can be locked into place with a small combination lock if you're nervous about them popping open.

At the other end, the lack of assembly means that you can crack a beer, order a pizza/fire up the BBQ and get your bike built within minutes. Just remember to use pad spacers if you've got disc brakes.

At 610, the Aero Easyfit is a bit of an investment, but the ease of use and its sheer sturdiness make it a potentially very good one, especially if you have a high-value bike. The lack of damage from this flight suggests it'll last for years, too.

If you don't need to keep your front end assembled, you can save a bit of cash with a standard BikeBox Alan at 438, while Douchebags' The Savage is very secure and easier to store on account of being a bag. It's now called The Djrv and, at 519, is actually 106 cheaper than it was when we reviewed it in 2019.

Appropriately, the Easyfit is one of the easiest bike flight cases I've had the pleasure of packing. Its design is a little bulkier than others, but the benefits of not having to pull apart the front end of your bike are very welcome. If you've got the cash and want an easy life, this is a brilliant choice.

From BikeBox Alan: "The Triathlon Aero Easyfit is the latest addition to the Bike box Alan Range. The Easyfit is the biggest Bike box available anywhere, so it should be no surprise that all Triathlon and Road bikes fit, with plenty of space for Wet suits, shoes and Kit.

The anti crush pole provided cannot be used when transporting the rear Disc wheel. However the plastic on our bike cases are double the thickness of our competitors so transporting a Disc wheel in the Easyfit, still gives the maximum protection that can be afforded. We recommend a little extra padding out using with your kit or ordering an extra layer of foam available on our accessories page. Alternatively, a separate disc wheel anti crush pole can be provided on request.

Fits 3 wheels: There is room for 3 lightweight road wheels inside the Easyfit. So if you are a Triathlete who wants the option to race with either a solid rear disc wheel or a normal rear wheel, we have the bike box for you. A separate solid disc wheel anti crush pole can be provided on request. Important *To pack a 3rd wheel you will need to order an additional layer of foam from the accessories page.

The box itself is fantastic, it does not allow for such easy fit for the larger XL bike, still needed to remove the derailleur and drop the aero bars back. The top of the box has a design flaw in that you can get your hand into the box because their is a small area that is just an overlap of the two sections (not a big issue unless someone puts something into the box without your knowledge.

Enough of the cons, overall the box is very easy to use, keeps the bike safe and protected (if i had a smaller bike it would be perfect) im glad i bought it. Perfect for international travel to compete.

The Triathlon Aero Easyfit is a game changer! Absolutely amazing piece of kit, an investment definitely worth making if you are travelling to train and race with your bike. Super strong and lightweight and incredibly easy to fit your TT bike inside! My TT bike was safe and sound - gave me huge piece of mind which is absolutely priceless before a race.

Best of all, I was confidently able to set up my bike at the event without relying on on-site mechanics.

Momma Mia, Man walked right past the bike mechanics in the iron man village in Italy ...... Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

BikeBoxAlan has a reputation as one of the best hard shell bike box providers on the market. After a few trips, Chris Hovenden provides his through to on the BikeBoxAlan Triathlon Aero Easyfit Bike Box.

In short, the BikeBoxAlan Triathlon Aero Easyfit has an additional rectangle shaped box that protrudes from the standard box profile which is designed to accommodate an aero base bar/handlebars/aero extensions etc.

In addition to the most essential question, namely will my bike be safe/protected, my main concerns when receiving the BikeBoxAlan Triathlon Aero Easyfit were: it is noticeably larger than other bike boxes; can it accommodate aero extensions/ski arms that are particularly steep or long; and, can it stow a rear disc wheel?

It is clearly quite a large item, with it measuring at 50cm at its widest (front-on), 133cm long, and 94cm tall. This means that you can fit it into a SUV-like car, but in my car there was no way I was fitting two such bike boxes in (two of the classic BikeBoxAlan fit easily). Further, it means it can be quite an effort lifting it in and out of your car.

If your TT set-up includes extensions that are long or particularly steep (as is becoming more and more popular) it is quite likely you will need to adjust your set-up to fit inside the BikeBoxAlan Triathlon Easyfit.
