Scam alert!
Some Withlacoochee River Electric Company customers have been receiving phone calls from people claiming to be customer service representatives from the company, threatening to turn off their power if they do not send money to pay their "overdue" bills. Customers should not send any money or provide any personal information to these criminals, nor call any numbers that they provide.
If WREC customers have any questions about their bill, the correct number to call is 352-567-5133.
WREC is conducting an investigation on how these scammers received the phone numbers of their customers.
