Where someone clicks on an article on facebook, it'll take them to the "welcome" sign up page, then have a link on it to the article that they clicked on. The link would change depending on what article they clicked on so they can be redirected properly.

You can convert your landing page into a fullscreen modal popup. So every new visitor will see the popup when the visit the site or any article. They can fill the form / they can close it to see the article. There is already several plugin for modal popup / newsletter popup. You just need to do a little bit css to make it full screen.
Some sites just are not going to play well with this at all, it's one of those few instances where the best response is "abandon all hope ye who enter here". I don't think you are going to be able to get this to work consistently.

I shortly tried with a local html file (not as response page). At least there with chrome 59 and firefox 54 the redirect works without issues. Ok, the respone page is shortly visible, but this you can customize with a text like "redirecting in 3, 2, 1 ..." (or something which makes more sense
I know that chrome seems to know exactly where popular sites like facebook or something like that should resolve; getting in the way of it actually resolving to that site can cause issues and get a error about the traffic potentially getting intercepted.
with the user-id data you can even create user-based redirects (but keep in mind that the javascript can be viewed by everyone who gets to the response page) or ip network based redirects. Another case would be redirects based on (custom) url categories.
While you already have a lot of possibilities with the integrated response pages, such a redirect to your own webserver gives you even more possibilities - countless possibilities because there you don't have any space or whatever limitations because you do not have the full control over the webserver which runs on the firewall.
Yes, in my (lab) test I exported the default block response page and there I added a little script in the head-section of the html. In this script (because I simply wanted to test your mentionned facebook example) I had only one line: window.location.replace (" ");
With this one line (and the needed security policies) I was able to browse to facebook.com where this block page was shown and there this redirect-script was triggered by atting an onload attribut to the htnl body tag.
So the script needs to either contain an if-then or switch-case function to make sure the redirect will only be triggered on the websites you want. So you need to pass the actual URL into a javascript variable to further process it. In addition, this block page is visible for
I have established a targeted custom audience via the Ad Bridge in Marketo. What I would like to do is be able to use a Facebook form to get the lead to want to reveal a refinance offer we have pre-established for them and then when they provide their email, they would be immediately redirected to a Marketo Landing Page that would reveal their personalized offer. I m unsure if this is the best way or if it is possible for Marketo to grad the from information and recognize who the lead is immediately and then for Marketo to allow the lead to be able to see a landing page with the tokens that would represent the name of the lead and the offer details for that individual.
This may even be accomplished by having the lead go to a Marketo Landing page and form directly from the Facebook Ab but I am unsure if Marketo would be able to pre-fill the form fields with the leads email address like Facebook forms will.
I looked at many discussions in the community tonight and I did not see any hat covered my question but if anyone has had experience doing this. I would be very grateful to learn your process or get your best practice knowledge.
There are some all-digital cases where pURLs can be useful. For example, if you're not using Marketo to send, you can supply a list of pURLs to a 3rd-party sender. In this case the pURL is (to a degree) reproducing the built-in functionality of Marketo's mkt_tok-enized links. (It's still better to distribute Munchkin "associator tokens" in that case, but pURLs are far better than undecorated URLs.)
In your case, if you're requiring them to fill out a form to associate their Munchkin session with their lead record, then you will not have immediate access to their Marketo Unique Code (used to create pURLs), because there is a brief delay during which the session is still anonymous. You also don't need pURLs in this case, because as soon as the session is associated, the page would be personalized for them anyway. You might try to wait for the association to complete by refreshing the page say, every half-second. On fast instances you'll only have to wait a couple of seconds. You have to be prepared for failure, though -- depending on load or other instance quirks, the association might not complete, and you don't want to keep polling forever.
Closest you can get to instant session association after the user self-identifies with their email address (wouldn't call this "authentication" btw, as it has nothing in common with login) would be to take them to an LP that has the token Lead.Id in the head. Then check if that token is outputting a non-empty value; if not, pause 500ms and refresh the page; repeat, say 20 times (up to 10 seconds) with a "Please wait..." message; fail if it takes longer than that to find the lead.
Within a few weeks I had a functioning application that met all my needs. But a funny thing happened soon after I launched. Other people started using the application. Knowing I had created something useful for a large audience was really satisfying. And so I did what any other developer who is already stretched thin and trying to balance a full time job and a family and hobby projects would do: I spent my nights, weekends, and every free moment I had working on it.
When I say they were becoming a hindrance, what I really mean is that my lack of knowledge of the technologies had come back to bite me. For all the reasons I had chosen them, there were plenty of other reasons that might have made me think differently, had I known about them.
Web browsers work using a traditional client-server model. A web browser (the client) sends a request for some page to a web host (the server). The server sends back some HTML to the web browser. That HTML includes structured text along with links to other files such as images, CSS, JavaScript, etc. The combination of the HTML, along with these other files, allows the web browser to render a meaningful web page for the user.
And thus the world turns. You click a link, your web browser sends the request to the server, and the server sends back some HTML. Every response back from the server is the full HTML document required to render a web page.
Instead, it contains a handful of placeholder elements, along with some links to JavaScript files. These JavaScript files are the heart and soul of the single-page app. Once loaded, they send back requests to the server to fetch content, and then dynamically update the HTML in the web browser to create a meaningful web page.
By all outward appearances, the application behaves like a traditional web site. The user sees HTML with images and buttons and interacts the exact same way. But under the hood things are very much different.
Just like a web browser, Google and other web crawlers request the HTML contents for pages on a web site. But instead of rendering it like a web browser would, it analyzes the HTML to semantically understand what the web page is about.
And like most single-page apps, the default HTML included lots of helpful developer information that is intended to be used for trouble-shooting, but never actually displayed in a web browser when things are working properly. Even worse, the template is the same for all URLs on the site, so Google got the same (wrong) interpretation for every page it crawled.
Another area I ran into problems with was social sharing. My website allowed users to create dynamic content, and also included lots of static content that others might find useful. And in the early days of launching, I indeed saw that people were sharing links to my websites across various social media platforms:
For example, when you share a link to a website on Facebook, the first thing that happens is Facebook reads the webpage and generates a nice preview of that article. The preview has a title, a line or two of descriptive text, and an image.
In my case, Facebook was falling victim to the same problem Google was. It was reading the template HTML file as-is, and not applying the JavaScript that would help fill in the metadata and create meaningful previews.
What this meant for my users is that every link from my website that was shared to Facebook and other social networks was generating the exact same preview. Whether it was users sharing their custom content, one of the static pages that I auto generated, or even the home page, every link shared on social media had the same preview.
But as new users started to use the website, I started to get worried about these things. Were my queries as performant as possible? Was I taxing MongoDB with too many requests? Would new users give up if a page took too long to load?
Periodically, the cached content will expire and CloudFlare will need to pass the request on to my server. But on aggregate, this approach can drastically reduce load on your server because far fewer requests end up getting through. As a bonus, the user experience is improved because returning the cached content is much faster than having your web server generate it from scratch.
