Thetwo sides of the reception both has separate doors leading to the Female and Male locker rooms. The locker room is also the way to the wet area where the showers and pools are located. Because you have to get totally naked in the wet area, phones are not to be used inside the locker room and the wet area.
After trying the pools, we had to go to the 2nd floor (of the spa, not the building) for our massage schedule which was at 1am. The other door from the locker room leads to the rest of the 1st floor of the spa. They have some pampering services that you have to pay aside from your package.
After our midnight snack, we tried the Himalayan Salt sauna which was the least hot of all. We spent about 15 minutes there before moving on to the next one, which I forgot the name ( i think it was Green Tea).
Just last night, me and a close friend went to this spa in Makati - Lasema Jjim Jil Bang Spa. It's a Korean spa, just like those that are being shown in dramas. We were both fond of kpop and kdramas so we were very excited when we learned that Lasema was having a promo for a whole package of their services and we didn't have second thoughts in availing it.
Overnight Spa
Since the package includes a 12-hour stay at the Jjim Jil Bang Spa, we decided to maximize it. Straight from our day work, we went to Lasema at around 11PM. At the front desk, we were given our number, locker keys, clothes (matching shirt and shorts) and a small towel. Footwears are not allowed inside so we removed and carried our shoes to the locker area. The floor is made of wood and the area is clean and being barefoot is comfortable.
At The Women's Wet Sauna
We knew beforehand that it's really part of the Korean culture to go naked in a public bath, but nothing prepared us for this. The moment we arrived at the women's locker area, two ladies were naked. Butt naked. It was a little uncomfortable at first (my locker is in between them, so I needed to squeeze within them >
So this is my first ever blog and me and my babsikels anniversary..yahoo!! two celebrations for me. So to cap off the celebration we decided to try this talk of the town sauna in Bel-Air Makati just infront of BIR, it is called LASEMA SPA AND SAUNA. They are open 24hrs a day
Once inside you need to head to their reception area and choose the package that best suits you and your budget. Babsikel and I tried the full package which includes 1hr combination massage, wet& dry sauna and 12hrs stay woah! all for the price of 890.00 per person. We were then asked our preffered time for our massage ang gave us a watch with a barcode, number and key..Ours was very maluwag because the maintenance told me that most of them put it on their feet to avoid losing it..So i did what they are doing. Tadaa! ?
After changing clothes off we went to dry sauna. There are 3 types of Dry Sauna that you can indulge. The first one is called salt and charcoal. It is the least hotter in the three with a 51degrees temperature. They say you should lie sa pebbles so the stones can absorb the negative ions.
The last one is the hottest of the all. With a degrees that varies from 70-73 degrees. Word of caution though you should stay here for a maximum of 5minutes only as the temperature is so hot you might burn. Should you wish to return pls do so in 5-15 minutes interval and drink alot of water.
Then goes the last dry sauna which they call an ice room..Oh yeah! here you can sing let it go ng Frozen to your hearts desire because it is really freezing cold with a temperature of -17-18 degrees you will feel smokey mouth while talking..feels like Korea hehehe ???
After a good 3 hours of heat and cold you can take a bath in their open shower area. No need to bring shampoo or soap as they have one na very floral and mabango in every cubicle. But of you want to you can do so.
You have the option to sleep in a lazy boy and read a good book to pass the time. Watch tv and lie down in a wood floor or better yet try their very famous cave. It has light switch a stone like pillow and a mattress. You can sleep like a mummy until your number is being called for the spa ??
Would i return here? Definitely! As long as I have a lot of extra moolah i would. Especially this holiday season when you run from one party tp another this one is a great way to relax and leave the stress world.
Ps nobody paid me to write a review with this blogpost. Just a personal reviews to make my readers informed. Should you have comments, questions or want to share your own experience just leave it down there. Enjoy!
I am a Korean Drama fan and I have watched tons of Kdrama, one of the things that I love when I am watching it is the Spa area where they can spend overnight, eat grilled eggs and relax. While browsing facebook I saw an ad of this authentic Korean Spa called New Lasema Spa which is located in Makati. I watched the video of the amenities and read the reviews of the guests who had visited the place and after some budgeting and convincing on my husband we decided that we will spend our US holiday at this place.
I inquired thru their FB page on how to reserve and I learned that they accept walk in guests anytime and they are open 24/7 which is amazing and fits our schedule. The rates of the Spa varies on what specific service and amenities you want to avail. For wet sauna you will pay for P300 for the stay of 3hrs, for Jimjilbang it is P600 on weekday and P700 on weekends for 12 hour stay, I advised that you avail the full package which is only P990 on weekdays and P1100 on weekends this includes 1 hour massage, Jimjilbang and wet sauna for 12 hours stay.
It is recommended that you start your spa adventure with a shower, wet sauna, massage, Jimjilbang and rest. But for us we decided to start our experience with Jimjilbang which is located at the 3rd level of the Lasema Spa which is technically 6th floor of the building if I am not mistaken.
Jimjilbang is a traditional kiln saunas in Korea, it is derived from the word Jimjil means Heating. You can find various rooms with different temperature and different elements with medicinal and health benefits.
Our first stop is the Himalayan Salt and Oak Charcoal with temperature of 56 degrees Celsius. It is said that Himalayan salt has anti-inflammatory and detoxifying effect while charcoal is for prevention of oxidation and reduction. You can sit on the salts on the floor or lay down or just stay in one of the bamboo chairs inside the room. We stayed here for 5 minutes and we are all sweaty when we come out.
Then we went to the next room which is Ochre Pine Tree Sauna the temperature is 61 degrees Celsius when we entered. We decided to lay down and feel the heat on this room longer. It is said that staying in this room is beneficial for your respiratory problems like asthma and helps in reducing poisonous effects on heavy metal.
The hottest room is Ochre Hot Kiln which has 71-75 degrees Celsius temperature. The effect of this room is to relieve fatigue and stimulate the metabolism. The room is very hot and I cannot stay for 2 even 2 minutes.
Finally, we went to the Ice Room. It is very cold inside feels like you are inside a walk in freezer but it is tolerable especially when you came from heated rooms. The ice room will help cool down the body temperature and heated muscles. It will also tighten the skin pores after opening from the heated rooms.
After sweating we went to the second floor where you can find the oxygen room and infrared room. The continuous use of Oxygen room will improve the memory, reduces fatigue and drowsiness and improves the reaction rate and muscle recovery. Far Infrared rooms promotes metabolism, improve blood circulation and enhance the production of enzyme.
Also at the third floor, you can find the rest area, heated floors where you can sleep, lounge area where you can watch TV while laying down on a couch and snack bar. They have videoke rooms but you need to pay an extra 450 pesos for 1 hour use. They also have a gym and kids play area.
The first authentic Korean spa in the country, New Lasema Spa offers you the jjimjilbang experience just a drive away from home. They have different types of saunas and massages that could remove all that tension from your body.
New Lasema Spa offers several spa and sauna rooms, including the Iced Room, Far Infrared Room (or dry sauna room), Himalayan Salt and Oak Charcoal, Ochre Pine Tree, Yellow Soil with Amethyst, and Ochre Hot Kiln. There is also an area especially made for sleeping.
Rates start at PHP 550 from Mondays to Thursdays and PHP 550 from Fridays to Sundays and during holidays. A full package, which includes a 12-hour stay and a massage, is priced at PHP 1,388 and PHP 1,488.
New Lasema Spa is located at 8846 Sampaloc Street corner Estrella Street, San Antonio Village, Makati City. Just like most jjimjilbangs in South Korea, they used to be open 24/7. But after the pandemic, their hours have been adjusted to 6:30 AM to 12:30 AM. They are still open every day, even during holidays. Make sure to follow them on the New Lasema Spa Facebook page to stay updated on their schedule.
New Lasema Spa is an authentic Korean spa or jimjilbang. I first saw this in CLOY, where the North Korean soldiers stayed while they were in South Korea, so I barely have an idea of what we can experience here. But upon going in, I realized that what I knew about it was just the tip of the iceberg, so to speak.
The facilities at New Lasema Spa include jacuzzi pools, steam sauna, and traditional Korean kiln saunas. They have sleeping pods as well, a KTV room, gym, kids area, and a common area where you can watch Netflix or connect to the internet for work. But, you know, why work there? ?
For first-timers like my colleagues and I, it was a bit unnerving. But the female staff was so nice and encouraged us to relax and release our inhibitions. Well, do as the Romans do, right? Or in this case, do what the Koreans do.
