For several days, I gave up mainfo for qgis. Is there a way to converting my mapinfo files (.tab) toward a file format supported by qgis. of course, i would like saving the symbology (styling) during the file conversion.

I currently use Mapinfo for all our mapping requirements but am currently evaluating Manifold as an alternative. The one problem I have come across with Manifold is that after producing a map we often want to export it to another package such as word, publisher or powerpoint. In mapinfo this is just a case of copying the map window and pasting the map as a windows metafile into the appropriate software package and the quality of bothe vector and raster components is excellent and the vector component is still editable. I have not been able to find a solution to this in Manifold. I have created a layout and exported it as a EMF file setting the DPI to 600 and the pixels to 600 but the resulting file is of poorer quality than the metafile from Mapinfo for both the vector and raster pats of the map and the vectors are no longer editable. The best quality is achieved by saving it to PDF and then cutting and pasting into word bu the quality is still below that from Mapinfo. Any help is solving this problem would be much appreciated.

Coming back to Antistasi after awhile and I've setup a server on bisect running Antistasi Ultimate Virolahti. Seems like the difficulty setting regarding visuals like mapinfo and slectable views are a bit off. Yesterday I could chose views myself (like I want) however I do not want to see the enemy on the map. Today I can't see the enemies on map but I can also not chose selectable views. AFAIK I haven't changed any setting. I also can't really find where I set this up?
