Dear All

I noticed that the Tecplot based header file from the sandbox of hiroumi (http://basilisk.fr/sandbox/hiroumi/tecplot/output.c) does not produce correct visualization of data with the latest version of Basilisk....

It used to work fine with an older version. I purchased a Tecplot academic license just for using it with Basilisk!

Please check the images below.

Similar is the case with the hdf5 based header from the sandbox of lchirco (http://basilisk.fr/sandbox/lchirco/output_hdf.h)....

Some body please help in this regard. Thank you, Regards.

Hello Yadav,

I had faced a similar issue with you in the past. So I think the header you attached is working fine without adaptation or periodic boundaries in the current version of Basilisk. This is due to how Basilisk iterated through different grid levels.

I have experimented a bit and created a header that can work for 2D cases and 2D cases with periodic boundaries. Extending it to 3D is quite a hassle due to the plt format of Tecplot. If you like I can send you the code to try it out.

Please let me know.

Regards,

Yiannis

Dear Colleagues,

We saw similar problems with Tecplot visualization of the vtu files generated with the latest basilisk.
Particularly for periodic BCs. I can share the simplest 2d file to reproduce the problem, which appears even without AMR.

It would be great if somebody shared an updated header file for vtu output.

All the best,

Vladimir

Thanks dear Yiannis for the help...

I am investigating this further...

As Vladimir pointed out in another post, the visualization problem is with .vtu format as well...

Dear All

I could not resolve the visualization problem with Tecplot.

In case anyone has resolved this, please let me know.

Thank you. Regards

Dump Tecplot for Paraview (it's free), and use output_vtu_foreach.h,
no problem in serial, openmp or mpi. Unless Tecplot can open VTU, don't know.

Ah, yes, problem solved, 2017R3 opens VTU: https://tecplot.com/2017/11/16/vtk-data-loader/

This works on uniform and octree, with minor issues but usable.

cheers

Hello Ajay,
Yes, that's true, the module produces cell data. I don't know about Tecplot, but
Paraview has a filter "Cell Data to Point Data" which solves the problem. Moreover,
no small number visu sources (e.g. cutplanes) use cell data as well so you can even avoid interpolation.

regards
Voitek
