I hope this question is not too stupid. I installed basilisk and I tried to follow the tutorial, but already "qcc --version" shows "Command 'qcc' not found". So I tried to launch the following lines:

cd basilisk/src
export BASILISK=$PWD
export PATH=$PATH:$PWD
ln -s config.gcc config
make -k
make

Already "ln -s config.gcc config" gives an error. Consequently "make -k" does.
Thank you in advance.

Hello Luca,

The error “ln” gives is that a file with the same name already exists. So perhaps it is a good idea to check what is in that file. It should be the same as “config.gcc”. If it is empty consider deleting it(config) and redoing the symbolic link.

Finally, do you have a C compiler installed?  gcc (not qcc) --version gives you anything?

I hope these two steps help you. I also installed it on WSL so if you have the prerequisites you should be fine.

Cheers

Yiannis

Hi, I've tried both of the steps you suggest, but the first one solved the problem with ls, but not with 'make -k'. Also the gcc is correctly installed.

However I noticed that calling 'dpkg --list', it doesn't show basilisk so something has to be wrong with the installation. I tried to uninstall it but it says: 'Unable to locate package basilisk'.

Anyway, thank you for the help.

Best Regards,
Luca

I've solved the problem, I don't know how replicable it is. I ran the following commands:

cd
rm -r [all the basilisk folders]

Then I ran the code under "Using a tarball" and then "Compilation" in the installation guide.

Now qcc --version works properly,.
Thanks for the help anyway, hope this can be useful for others.

I am not sure (familiar) with what you were trying to do here. I installed mine via darcs as instructed by the installation guide.

Anyway, glad you solved it.
