Listbox

i am new to VB , and have vb 50.

I am trying to get a value out of a listbox into a mathematical operation ,
say listbox contains -3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3

I want to add or subtract this from a variable single format .
Can anyone tell me how to do this my attempt were without success.
It would be excellent is you just could send me a project where you have two
listboxes which have their contents added into a label.caption field.
that would help me a lot.
and the result changes when you select another value from the listbox.
