I had a problem with the Unicode version. Some letters were replaced
by a square. The same problem occured on computers running both
Windows XP and Vista. I had the same issue with a lot of different
fonts, but when I changed font to Galatia SIL it was rendered
properly. (Galatia SIL looked more "biblical" anyway:)

Just wanted to let you guys know.

Thanks for that. I would say it was a problem with the fonts you were
using and the font system not finding the right substitute.
Why? Don't know.

But thanks,

I also had this problem initially. It seems that the program is
defaulting to using Arial font.
I went to Settings ->Fonts and Colours. On the cards tab I change the
question and answer font options to Arial Unicode. This did not fix
the problem. I then went back to the Fonts and Colours dialog and
there is a second tab Fields. On this tab I changed the custom font
settings for both: When reviewing and editing to Arial Unicode. This
finally fixed the problem. I am now just trying out a few different
unicode fonts to find my preferred option.

Andrew,

Thanks for that. I might look into that. I might be able to set it to
choose a better default font.
Does windows come with Arial Unicode by default? (assuming you are on
windows)
The reason that I don't know is because I'm on a mac.

Steve,

I encountered the same problem.
As I know, Arial is the default font on XP.
And XP does not include Arial Unicode by default.
Arial Unicode MS is normally distributed with Microsoft Office, but it
is also bundled with Mac OS X v10.5 and later. It may also be
purchased separately (as Arial Unicode) from Ascender Corporation, who
licenses the font from Microsoft.

XP does not have Galatia SIL by default.
I've tried TekniaGreek, it does not work.

When I installed Microsoft Office 2007, and change the font to Arial
Unicode MS, the square disappears. And anki works well with Greek.

I've been troubled for a whole month on this trouble. Hope it will
help others.
But could you please add some necessary information about the font to
your article at http://sites.google.com/site/ankiandbbg/Home/important-info-for-vocab-set--unicode
?

Thanks a lot !

Done. I've updated the page with a brief note. I've also uploaded a
slightly improved version of the deck that has Arial Unicode set as
the default font so hopefully some users will be better served by
that.
