Hello everyone again,

I am currently trying to design the report of our companies native basespace app together with my colleague.
However when we try to render it in the "Report Builder" the output window only displays "report still rendering" and never finishes.
We have tried both the default/example report and a static html report, neither worked.

Is this a known phenomenon/problem and can anyone give suggestions for possible causes/solutions?

One additonal debugging step I tried was doing the fastqc native app from the official tutorial step by step, however the VM can not be updated like it is suggested since the Ubuntu version seems to be to old, plus the Docker image which is used in the tutorial does not exist anymore and gives an error 410 (resource no longer available) when trying to pull it from docker hub.
Are there any more recent/unofficial tutorials one could try as a sanity check?

Best, Christian Jansen

Dear community,

We were finally able to get the report working.

For future reference by others with this porblem, a custom report needs to be activated apparently in order for Basespace to render the report. It does not have to be the same one which you are working on but just any custom report, like the example one.

I hope this helps and saves other people the headaches I had to go through.

Best regards,

Christian Jansen

Dear community,

one more update form my side.
After starting to adjust the report of my app to show the results from the output files, I found out that the problem is indeed not fixed.
The Report which I am seeing in the Reports builder is always the activated report version, regardless which file I have opened.
Since I can not change the activated report I have now defaulted to activating and deactivating the report to check if my most recent changes, until I find a better solution or hear back from Illumina Support/Feedback.

If anyone in the meantime can help me out I'd be very grateful.
At this point I am questioning how anyone can work with the software in such a bad/buggy state.

Thank you for any hints in advance!
Best, Christian Jansen
