Crazy creative stuff this Friday (today 5/8/09!) & one night only at
that as the man needs to keep rollin' down the road to further screens
& white walls ...
WHAT: Basement Films, a local non-profit microcinema, will be hosting
UC Davis media art professor & curator Darrin Martin on his
experimental film & video tour INSIDE OUT. This screening tour
features 70 minutes of 5 collaborative & solo works over the last 5
years.
Darrin Martin creates videos, sculptures and installations, which
explore how technologies are used to attempt to measure and augment,
our daily perceptions. His works have exhibited and screened
internationally at festivals and museums including the Museum of
Modern Art (NY), Pacific Film Archives (CA), The European Media Art
Festival (Germany), The Kitchen (NY), WRO Media Arts Biennale
(Poland), and The Impakt Festival (The Netherlands). Martin also
collaborates with Torsten Zenas Burns building diverse speculative
fictions around re-imagined educational practices. Their works have
been included in screenings and exhibitions in venues including The
Oberhausen Short Film Festival (Germany), Scanners: New York Video
Festival (NY), The Madrid Museum of Contemporary Art (Spain), The
Paris/Berlin International, Champ Libre (Canada), and Eyebeam (NY).
Martin occasionally curates and teaches video and media arts at UC
Davis.
