A very sincere wish from those of us at Baseball Odyssey for a Joyous
Holiday Season and a Very Prosperous New Year.

Turning our attention to the new year and the fast approaching 2008
Baseball Season, the staff of the Baseball Odyssey has begun the very
arduous task of comparing schedules. Given that only the Northwest and
Mid Atlantic Coast remain on the Odyssey "To Do" list, we have
compiled the Northwest trek options for you viewing pleasure and
consideration.

As we see it here there are 5 options (in date sequence)

1. May 16 - Padres at Mariners, May 17 - Las Vegas 51s at Portland
Beavers, May 18 - White Sox at Giants, and May 19 - Devil Rays at As

2. May 27 - Red Sox at Mariners, May 28 - Sacramento River Cats at
Portland Beavers, May 29 - Blue Jays at As, May 30 - Padres at Giants

3a. May 30 - Tigers at Mariners, May 31 - Las Vegas 51s at Portland
Beavers, June 1 - Padres at Giants, June 2 - Tigers at As
3b. May 31 - Tigers at Mariners, June 1 - Las Vegas 51s at Portland
Beavers, June 2 - Mets at Giants, June 3 - Tigers at As
3c. June 1 - Tigers at Mariners, June 2 - Las Vegas 51s at Portland
Beavers, June 3 - Mets at Giants, June 4 - Tigers at As

4. July 4 - Tigers at Mariners, July 5 - Tacoma Rainiers at Portland
Beavers, July 6 - Dodgers and Giants, July 7 - Mariners at As

5. Aug 25 - Twins at Mariners, Aug 26 - Salt Lake Bees at Portland
Beavers, Aug 27 - Rockies at Giants, Aug 28 - Twins at As

Obviously, immediate preference is number 2 - it just feels right -
but take a close look at the dates and respond with your "take" on the
options.

The spreadsheet is available once again of the home schedules for your
review as well and can be accessed from:
http://www.baseballodyssey.org/2008BaseballOdyssey.xls

Our other consideration is the Mid Atlantic (Nationals, Orioles, New
Phillie stadium) so we will be sending out some options for that
destination as well.

Please respond with any comments and let the BO chatter begin.

If you are planning on taking the girls and maybe me..........the only options that work are 4 and 5.   Just to add to your list of things to think about.
Love ya,

Hello Kommish - and fellow BO'ers,

Happy New Year!

Sorry for the delayed response.  The Ohio Haynes' vote for the alternatives in the following order:
1 - June 17+ mid-atlantic
2 - July 5+ mid-atlantic
3 - July 25+ mid-atlantic
4 - July 4+ northwest

All but the July 4 northwest trip are hard because of Sam's school schedule.

I got a "Ball Busters" trivia book from my lovely wife for Christmas, so here's a little something to get you thinkin' BO.  First person to correctly answer will get free stuffed and stacked Bob Evans pancakes at the next BO:
Name the 3 players who have hit 200 or more home runs in each league?

Good luck!

Happy New Year from Chicago, too.

The Tonachels will only be available for trips starting after June 13th, the last day of school. We prefer the West Coast swing this year and may only do the Bay part of the trip.

Also, I want to take this opportunity to apologize for the continued delay in the completion of notes from BO '07. They are coming...

Finally, to Tim's question:
1. Frank Robinson
2. Mark McGwire
3. Fred McGriff

And Ken Griffey, Jr. is closing in, with 195 homeruns with the Reds.

Give your "lovely wife" the pancakes. She deserves them.

DING-DING-DING-DING... correctamundo!!

And there's exciting news at Bob Evans with a new flavor for their stuffed and stacked cakes - BLUEBERRY!!!  My wife appreciates it, but the cakes are yours!!

Congratulations Mr. Tonachel!!

Happy New Year! Not surprisingly, the California Tonachels put our vote in for the West Coast swing. Note that there is camping right here in our home town of Berkeley (Tilden Park, http://www.ebparks.org/parks/tilden, great hiking trails, golf course, animal farm, and swimming hole included). Berkeley is also an easy BART ride to Oakland (McAfee) Coliseum and San Francisco.

Alright, folks, I'm going to be making the pitch for the June 17 to
June 20 Mid-Atlantic swing.

June 17- Phillies v. Red Sox, June 18- Orioles v. Astros, June 19-
Bay Sox v. Akron, June 20- Nationals v. Rangers

This most neatly fits into others plans and also my own. And,
obviously, the Red Sox are featured on this trip so.... say no more.

I'd like to save the Northwest trip for last (and maybe not until 2010
-- I have a girl to graduate in 2009).

Please respond back to this note with your thoughts... Thanks and lets
BO!

Hola Hermano - we do believe that those dates work well for the Ohio Haynes contingent.
