Dr. Nancy Kinner will give two talks about crude oil and its properties via video conference from University of New Hampshire. These talks are a continuation of presentations from last March and provide information about crude oil which may be useful to the Barrow community.
The first talk concerns the biodegradation of oil. The second talk will explain the use of dispersants during oil spills.
Dr. Kinner is the Director of the Center for Spills in the Environment (CSE) and the former UNH Director of the Coastal Response Research Center (CRRC). Both organizations oversee and coordinate R&D on marine oil spills and are known for being independent and trusted sources of information on spill response and restoration.
Prof. Kinner has been to Barrow to discuss oil spill topics, most recently in November 2012.
